The first one reminds me a bit of "Day of the Tentacle".
YES! It's so true. I think of all of these, the only one I don't like is the squid one. It's too... non-alien looking I guess. Not that the motif isn't great, but it is often used. The urchin-like creatures are the best of these IMO, especially the one with the shirt tentacles and the cups or glands on its back.
