What can I say? Cracking work Frank!
-
This will be so close, both entries are amazing.
-
Lordy. Double perfection.
-
First one I click... and I wanna get out of here :o
-
Can't choose! :-*
-
Both stunning entries!
-
The two most atmospheric photographers in a titanic battle for the fate of middle round! I salute you both! :o
How can I pick? Both fantastic, love 'em :-*
-
I rarely swear here, but can only say FUCKING HELL :o :o :o
Absolutely stupendous work from both of you.
-
:o Sorry, can't choose one, both are too exceptionnal :-*
-
Mind=blown by both of these entries! Just wow.
Had to give it to Blackwolf because I love those RBG figs. They do scale very well with the LOTR ones from GW. Also, while Frank is undeniably a god of painting, this is not the best photo; it's a little difficult to see where the orcs finish and the riders start. But just so impressed by both entries.
-
WOW!! If this isn't the best arguement for a 'Both' button I don't know what is!! Amazing work by both parties. A real clash of the titans. For me, this is the match up of the LPL so far!!
-
Holy shit! You entry is really fantastic. Brilliant work Blackwolf. :-* :-*
-
OMG Frank your my hero! Those minis are awesome and the composition of the picture is even better!
Do you take comissions ;D
-
o_o ??? :o ;D
We are not WORTHY!!!!

Lordy. Double perfection.
Second that. Looking for a coin...
-
Sweetness in both entries- the similarities and high quality in each are making me resort to some real nitpicking in order to choose :)
I really like the way the figures interact in Blackwolf's, along with the clarity of the individuals and precision of painting, plus his characteristic mood. Perhaps his most crisply photographed entry to date.
Frank's has beautiful mood and depth, wonderful contrast and painting, great dynamism. I have to agree with tomogui it is a little hard to separate the figures visually. Again, just nitpicking on an amazing scene :)
-
Wow...what a matchup. I'm picturing my figs up against either this round, and I wouldn't get a single vote -- including my own!

-
Really loved both sets, and the presentation of them was simply amazing.
-
Guys, remember, someone has to come second here. Life can be a harsh mistress.
Close or what? Every vote is gonna count.
-
Oh Frank you´ve got some tough opponents haven´t you? great pictures, truly a clash of Titans.
-
Also, while Frank is undeniably a god of painting, this is not the best photo; it's a little difficult to see where the orcs finish and the riders start. But just so impressed by both entries.
I disagree, the dynamics in Frank's photo are really mindblowing. I can almost "feel" the motion here.
I also love the Blackwolf's picture. Having Barahir's men ambush Orcs is one of these great (if somewhat short) epics of the Elder Days of Middle Earth. This is an almost impossible choice to make...
-
Both outstanding! :-*
-
This was tough, they both are excellent. Being a cavalryman I went with Hunting, but it was tough
-
Bloody hell lads ... an absolute masterclass from the pair of you. Well done guys!
-
:o
What a match!
Wonderful pics guys, both wonderful. I'm in awe.
-
Too tough a call, for the first time I couldn't vote!!!! :o
-
Amazing. :-*
Very tough choice. Love them both.
Frank's I can see just the moment in the books this is taking place.
Both photos are great with a lot of depth.
Blackwolf's picture almost looks like an Animation cell. Stunning
I could easily have gone either way here, Frank's pulled me because of the moment in the story is one of my favorites.
-
Awesomeness abounds. Both entries get 100% for inspiring me to do better w my LOTR stuff.
Mike
-
A Masterclass, simply stunning, both of them
-
Absolutely incredible painting and composition in both. Truly inspiring work.
-
Truly astonishing work from both participants. Regardless of the outcome, nobody comes away a loser in a contest of such quality.
I don't know about "Lead Painters' League", this is PREMIER LEAGUE!
-
Nothing else to add to the discussion but praise! Lovely composition, Frank! Blackwolf, stunning camerawork. Both of you have done a terrific job with the brushes! o_o
-
Both scenes are JUST EXCELLENT! :o :-* :-*
And the background really adds a lot of character and tells a story.
Very well done for both of you.
Please, please, please, next LPL we need a "Draw" option.
Frank, are those trees GW? What did you use for folliage?
Thank you.
-
These look like stills from the film! :o

Yes, those are GW trees; I have been using foliage from a German manufacturer called MININATUR: http://www.mininatur.de/silhouette_home.php?lang=en
...and thank you for the kind words!
-
Oooh, this is a harsh one, so early on too. A big hand shake to whoever comes second here.
-
And thanks for the kind words from me too :) And a special thanks to Frank :D ,I don't think it's too early to say a brilliant win! At this rate maybe next year I'll get a draw ;)
-
This is madness...
-
IMPOSSIBLE!!
To choose, BEST matchup yet!
Gods! How to choose?
Well ...
Hi Frank! You've done it again!
Blackwolf, great job too!
-
This is madness...
I concur completely!
-
Slightly OT, kudos to Blackwolf for doing an entry from The Silmarillion ;)

Slightly OT, kudos to Blackwolf for doing an entry from The Silmarillion ;)
Agreed on that. I'd like to do a breakdown of the sources that inspired the submissions just to see the percentages :)
-
Now I see why my dad likes that Frank guy so much!
-
How am I supposed to be able to vote? :S Without doubt, the most breathtaking miniatures this round, and naturally pitted against each other Arghhh!!
-

Thank YOU for the quick reply, and for STUNNING us with your marvelous miniatures and compositions.
Best wishes.

Incredibly good!
-
I come back to this time to time; bloody hell lol

I come back to this time to time; bloody hell lol
Frank was the doom of many a painter in the LPL heyday :)
I can say I greatly feared when he was paired against me and as I was working I asked myself 'can it stand against Frank?' lol
That goes for you too!
Super cool entries both :)
-
Cheers Matt :) your work in the LPL’s was always a highlight, I think we ran against each other twice, a win each way I think :)
-
All of your entries (Blackwolf, Dr. M and Frank) were beautiful and inspiring. Each very unique in their overall tone and pallet. I do miss the LPL. Though I dabbled in the other, less elevated level of that fine competition it was a great inspiration for painting as well as amazingly entertaining. The entries those at your level came up with, the staging and the photography were amazing.
