Seeing the post about Ebob's Mongol stuff reminded me I had painted these a while ago and forgot to post the pictures.

I highly recommend these figures. Really lovely, deceptively simple looking but they really reward careful painting. Hope you like them!
EDIT - Bollocks, I've put this in the wrong forum. Can a mod move it to Medieval Adventures, please? Many thanks.
EDIT the Second - Moved! Thanks WK! :)

Those look great, nice pj!
-
They look bloody lovely, JB, regardless of what board they are on. lol
:-* :-* :-*
I will have to have a go at some tartan soon (scarey!) and will be taking a look back when I do.
-
Great stuff JB, the tartan looks spot on 8)
cheers
James
-
Great stuff - those mounted knights/men-at-arms look really impressive as a group!

Sure does - Kudos to you, it's one of the many thinks I can't paint well!
-
Excellent work JB ;D
-
:-* and as has already been said, the Tartan is spot on!
-
Lovely stuff! Wrong era altogether for me, but gives me a heads up that any Ebob stuff from the right time period will be worth getting! Thanks for sharing.
-
Many thanks chaps. :D
-
Excellent work there JB.

Sweet looking figures.
Love them. :-*
-
Very well painted figures.
No criticism of the painter but I do cringe whenever I see pictures of Mel Gibson inspired fantasy figures posing as medieval Scots.

I share the same quarms as David on this one. The Mel Gibson looking miniatures belong to an era well ahead of the Scottish Wars of Independence.
Not that this takes anything away from the brushwork which is great 8).

Fantastic Stuff :-* :-* :-*

Thanks again, very happy that you all like them.

The tartan on these is a massive fudge (something I specialise in). A simple grid pattern, with thinner ones overlayed. From memory, it was:
Base with Orkhide Shade
Grid that with Knarloc Green
Overlay the previous stage with thin lines of Orkhide
Overlay a grid of Skull White through the centre of the Orkhide squares
Slather the whole thing with a 1:1 mix of Sepia and Green washes.
Just bear in mind that the paint names will be changing any day now (thanks GW!) but essentially any colours will work to that system for a nice and easy, basic tartan. No highlighting, no individual shading. Job done!

Nice work and a gratuitous use of the word slather - whats not to like
-
Lovely pjs.

I was thinking of some of these as my next purchase for me and my son to lay some paint on and play a few games. I got my daughters the Queen and Maid figures to start off their painting careers - I really like EBob's stuff.
I really like the brushwork on yours, so may nick your ideas. How did you get the yellow so bright - it is a notoriously poor colour to get a nice even tone straight from the pot, but you have managed it really well.

Jaw droppingly good :o

Thank you. :)
GW Iyanden Darksun foundation paint, Sepia wash, highlight with Darksun again then final highlight with Sunburst Yellow. All off a black undercoat. Again, names of paints are changing so watch out.
