In addition to the Spartans (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=39008.0) and Amazons (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=39971.0) I've been working on a few other assorted figures from Greek Mythology for both Skirmish games and DBA/HOTT.

The Graeae.

The Bronze Bull of King Aeetes
-
Love the hand sticking out of the pot... lol
Where did you get the bull from?
-
Where did you get the bull from?
Cheers!
All of the figures above are from the new Wargames Foundry Greek Mythology line.
-
Thanks, mate!
;)
-
Nice work Tim, particularly like how you've handled the bull.
-
I like the bull, probs my favourite figure from their new line
-
Nice work Tim!
-
Thanks guys. Here's a few more...

A couple of heroic skirmishers... or perhaps not-so-heroic followers or henchmen or hirelings...
-
Excellent stuff as usual there Tim. The Gorgon paint job is not the usual 'look' we get from Hollywood, and gains a lot from it. Thanks for sharing.
-
well done again, Tim, keep it coming!
-
Very nice. The centaurs are some of the nicest figs in the new range.
-
A few more... No "mythical" per se...
but could be...!?

A couple more...

A Satyr from Crocodile Games (Wargods of Olympus) and an Amazon from Wargames Foundry
-
this Satyr is really nice!
-
Like your work on the shield, cracking stuff altogether :-*
-
Thanks Guys!

MORE Satyrs - Front Row (Left to right) Foundry, Crocodile, Black Tree Design, Crocodile, Foundry, Second Row all Foundry.

Love those Satyrs.
Very nice.

Indeed! I think that the Crocodile Satyrs are my favourite.

It's been a productive weekend... Here's a few more...

Not Greek "MYTH" per se... but will definitely see action against Centaurs, Satyrs and Amazons at some point in their career, so...
These are mostly from Black Tree Design - except for the hornblower, he's from Crusader Miniatures.

and finally some more skirmish game figures...
-
Great additions Tim! You know, I really like the Black Tree Greeks.
-
just a couple more... (all are from Wargames Foundry)

Centaur's other side... not sure about that black background on the shield... I might change it..
Should have some Amazons shortly.
I should take a group photo - these penny packet installments have been adding up to a sizable collection! The storage drawer is steadily filling up with painted figures!
I should also try and get a game in with these!
-
A few more rolling off the line...

Perseus (or some other hero...)
All from Wargames Foundry

Nice to see it going, Tim, thanks for sharing!
-
Your Black Tree figures look great.
Sometimes with Black Tree you just never know.

Heh... yes... Some of the shields they send with the Greek "spearmen" are quite unlike any ancient Greek shield I've ever seen illustrated anywhere.... Their "hoplites" have proper round Hoplons, but some of the "spearmen" some with some sort of oval shield!? Going to have to steal some hoplite shields from somewhere (or just make my own) to kit those guys out...

Yeah, I had the same thing. You can get cheap shields from the good folks at Horde O Bits.
$3.00 for 24 should keep ou going for a while, and the shipping is reasonable to Canada

Ooh thanks! I've ordered things fro HoB in the past - I didn't realize they'd branched out into HISTORICAL plastic bits!
-
Well just Wargames Factory for now. I would shout with joy if they took on Perry, Warlord and Victrix. Fingers crossed. Also check out the Reaper bits. They have a few pieces that would work for myths - an owl for athena, a satyr, etc.
-
You know that Reaper will sell bits - sprues - from it's packs if you ask them? I bought 20 x a particular shield form their Necropolis weapons pack by emailing Ed and making the request.

A few more...

Greek Women. Teh three on the left that look a little "better fed"are from Wargames Foundry, the two on the right are from Warlord Games.
Hero of some sort from the Foundry's ARgonauts collection...

A few new ones...

Heracles (with the pelt of the Nemian Lion) from Wargames Foundry
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VNLfoVQivFU/T6fyufTbDAI/AAAAAAAAQgg/3FsJVbejMEs/s1600/7may201203.jpg)
A Beggar from Warlord Games ancient Roman line - but could easily pass for an earlier Greek beggar...
-
I like the beggar.
-
Presumably the beggar is a god in disguise. Neglect him at your peril!
-
A few more of the gods:
From Left to Right; Hermes, Eros, Athena, Poseidon, Dionysus, Hades, and Hephaistos. All from Wargames Foundry
and because they had them in Clash of the Titans:
A GIANT SCORPION! (this is actually a cheap plastic dollar store critter that just happened to be about the right size for a "28mm" Giant scorpion!)
-
Tim, they look better and better! Nice update.
-
Like the Gods, Tim, well done!
-
This past weekend I finally finished up a herd of Centaurs to finish up a HOTT/DBA army of them.
This lot are all figures from Wargames Foundry
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VfL7Pp8VA0E/T8zLKkiykMI/AAAAAAAAQio/FfBm7E4RwGs/s1600/04June201202.jpg)
These are all from Mega Miniatures
Here is the whole army together:
The army consists of :
1x Knight or Rider General (or Cavalry General in DBA)
1x Magician
7-8x Riders (Light Horse in DBA)
1-2x Shooters (Allied Satyr Archers – to give the army something to deal with stuff in bad-going)
At some point I'd like to pick up a couple more elements worth - just to fill out a full 12-element army of "Riders" (or Light Horse/Cavalry in DBA)
-
Wow, they look impressive as a group! Nicely done. A great selection of minis from a lot of different companies that gel well together
-
Tim
I love what you have acheived with this project so far. Though I must say that I am a little disappointed with the Foundry Myths range....some of the figures are stunning whilst others look like the sculpter has tried to get them done in an afternoon. I will probably still get them anyway.
Again VERY well done.
Pete
-
Another centaur - on a much bigger individual base!? This will actually be the Army marker for the Centaur Army above (to denote the location of said army on a campaign map - I do love campaigns...).
The figure is from Mega Miniatures.
-
Tim, how do the Mega Miniatures Centaurs stack up next to the Foundry ones in terms of size and sculpt? I have around 15 or 20 of the Mega Minis ones that I painted years back but none of the Foundry. I always liked the Mega Minis ones for what they were, reasonably priced, okay sculpts. Nothing to devote your gaming life to but good rank and file Centaurs.
-
Tim, how do the Mega Miniatures Centaurs stack up next to the Foundry ones in terms of size and sculpt?
I think the mega minis stuff is maybe a bit smaller. Do they go well together? Depends how picky you are. I'm not so picky... but I did make the stands of one type (i.e. each stand has all figure from Foundry, or Mega Minis, or whatever) partly because there was a noticeable enough difference when they were standing right next to each other on a base together.
Have a look at the army above - there's a mix of the two in the big group shot - kind of hard to tell how tall each is from that angle... but the back row, from left to right, is: Mega Minis, Foundry, Mega Minis, Mega Minis, Foundry. The Front row, from left to right, is Foundry, Mega Minis, Foundry, Reaper (the singly-based shaman/magician), and Shadowforge.
-
Tim, thanks. Very cool. I think they look very good together. I dig the Mega Minis stuff but there are only so many sculpts there. I guess I can certainly look at foundry now for expansion options when I return to centaurs. Thanks much sir.
-
I started building some ships... All the cool heroes had one... Odyseus... Jason...
This is a work-in-progress shot:
Hopefully I'll get a chance to finish these up in the next week or two.

Oh Yea!
Verrrry nice.
-
You are off to a great start with your ships.
Will look forward to see you build them.
-
Very nice ships - looking forward to seeing them done.
-
Fantastic updates...
Cannot wait to see the ships!
Mac
-
Hi Tim,
your ships are very impressive. I'm really looking forward to see them ready to set sail and conquer the aegean sea. ;) I#m really interested, who you build these ships. Perhaps you can make a tutorial how to build them?! :D
Cheers Hannibal
-
Thanks everyone! I, unfortunately, haven't had a chance to work on the ships lately... Hopefully NEXT weekend I'll get at them again!
In the meantime... here are the latest DBA and Skirmishy figures:

All are 28mm from Black Tree Design.
-
Very nice!
-
That is very nice, indeed. Great you're keeping the pace. Especially looking forward to the finished ships.
-
Good work,
I have always loved Olympian Gods.
the sacred band would be a dramatic unit,
lovers dying for each other.

More of the same based for use as "fliers" in Hordes of the Things. Ostensibly these are for the Amazon army, but really anyone who can put up with them could make use of them!
-
Looking good Tim!
-
and here's another...

a Cyclops from Reaper Miniatures - on a 60x60mm square base so it could be used for both skirmish gaming and as a Behemoth in a Greek Myth Hordes of the Things army
-
Very nice collection of Greek miniatures. I really love this project!!
-
No new figures, but I did finally get a game in where I got to USE some of the figures I've painted...
More pictures and a full report can be found on my blog:

Very nice project. I'd love to see how those ships turn out.
Did you mention the rules you were using? (I might have missed that).
-

Thanks. I'd like to see how they turn out too! so many projects, so little time. I'll get to them eventually!
Did you mention the rules you were using? (I might have missed that).
I probably didn't mention. I use Savage Worlds for pretty much all my individually-based, skirmishy games (mostly because I'm too lazy to try and remember different rule sets for all the different periods I'm interested in). I also use Hordes of the Things for larger scale battles (the multi-figure based stuff)

I've seen Savage Worlds mentioned a few times, I thought those where RPG rules? Is there a skirmish version or are you ripping the combat rules out of the RPG?

Well... What's a Role-playing game but a set of skirmish rules with some other fluff added? I don't know about the origins of SW but it seems like it may have started out purely as a set of miniature skirmish rules that they bolted on a few extra skills and edges to make it into a very simple RPG. The core of the game is tabletop action - indeed all distances are defined in tabletop inches.
You can download a free "test drive"version of the RPG rules from teh publisher here:
http://www.peginc.com/freebies/SWcore/TD06.pdf (http://www.peginc.com/freebies/SWcore/TD06.pdf)
They also have available free for download a "streamlined" version of the rules designed for head to head competative skirmish gaming called "Savage Worlds: Showdown" (When you look at them you will find they are virtually identical - the skirmish game has a rubbish point system):
