After posting the picture of the em4 Farm as an example of how quickly a Strange Aeons board will fill up, I have received a few questions about it.
I had had my eyes on it for some time and finally bought it at the end of last year.
I am very glad that I did, as it has seen use in almost every game we have played since, as it is so versatile.
I had posted a review of it before, but thought I would do so again on here, as it is perfect for a Strange Aeons board as it easily fills the board. With just a few small additions you have a very characterful board with little effort.
Here are the pictures that I posted showing it on a 3x2 board;

The pictures are not great, as the lighting wasnt the best, but you will still be able to see how good it is.
It comes in FOUR (yes, 4!) seperate boxes.
All of the boxes have custom-cut polystyrene to hold the different sections extremely securely. Not only that, but each individual piece (main sections, walls, roofs etc) comes bagged seperately, with foam sections to sit under the roof elements, to thoroughly protect each section in transit and storage!
I must say that I have never seen an item for gaming packed so splendidly!
(Even the em4 Inn (sadly no longer available :'(), which was packed in a similar manner, was not this well done.
Along with that, all the bases have a felt layer fixed to the bottom of them to protect your gaming surface.
On to the contents of each box.
I decided to start with the smallest box, which contains the Gatehouse and Wall section;
(http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j478/themason73/Farm020.jpg)
As you can see, it is very well made and painted, with opening and hinged doors, that are painted on both sides, and a lift off roof to enable placement of miniatures inside.
The next box contained the Cottage;
(http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j478/themason73/Farm022.jpg)
Again very well detailed with opening doors and a lift-off roof
The third box contains the Stable;
(http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j478/themason73/Farm025.jpg)
As before regarding the details and doors, but this section has two seperate roof pieces.
The final box contained the largest building, the Barn;

Rear view

Again, details as before with two roof sections.
Now a couple of shots of the whole complex assembled together;

(http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j478/themason73/Farm009.jpg)
As you can see, when it is put together it is a good size, and can be assembled in more ways than one. This is how it is displayed on their website, but I will be using different configurations each time.
The buildings could also be used seperately , giving you three good sized buildings and a gatehouse. This is how I will be using it in town, and as a whole for rural scenarios.
Great for Strange Aeons, Mordheim and Warhammer-type games but useful for any period from medieval onwards. It will certainly be seeing service in our VSF games.
Here are a couple of closer shots with some old-school Citadel miniatures for scale;

A great addition to any scenery collection.
Ready painted and usable straight from the box, well packed for storage and transport, and fills a board really well.
What more could you want?

Thanks for the information! It´s an impressive building! Is it made of resin?
-
I have the Inn model, that is great, too. I have seen this at a few shows and thought about it. Must buy one later in the year.
-
Does the roof sections come of or are they solid items?
And people, if you like this! Enter the contest, there is a gift voucher from EM4, not sure if I will break it into two 10's or keep it a solid 20. In any event could go to this cool scenery!

Yes, it is resin, but as all the sides and roofs are pretty thin, it is not heavy.

I have the Inn too, another great piece, but sadly OOP now. :'(
I say sadly as I wanted to buy another to cut apart and detail the interior.
Well worth the investment, particularly at a show as the price is slightly cheaper.

All the roofs come off and miniatures can be placed inside.
In fact, in the future, I intend to make some interiors, when time permits of course.....

Paul - many thanks for that review - I'm going to link to it from the website if that's OK by you...?
To anyone interested in the farm, I have to admit that the shipping cost is quite high and a bit off-putting. Which is why anyone going to Salute (or any other show we attend - I mention Salute 'cos it's the next one) who wants a farm should think seriously about ordering one for collection at the show. As well as saving about £12.00 in shipping costs, we also do them at £5.00 off the list price at shows. Also, Salute is the only show at which we accept credit/debit cards.
Just thought i'd mention it.

Wow, £12.00, wonder what the US cost would be?

I have seen it, you get a lot of resin for your money, but it will be heavy............... :o

Seriously worthwhile for UK punters going to a show, though.
For the price, you do get a lot of resin that is PRE_PAINTED!
That was the massive selling point for me.
You can put it straight on to the table, and it works for so many games.
Overseas postage may be quite high, due to the weight and size,(there are four boxes to consider), but it is so well packed I would not worry about any fragility issues.

Go ahead, Doug, I have no problem with you doing that.

The Inn is the building to the left of my townscape and the Brewery truck has just arrived:

Wow, what a table!

:o
Great table, joroas!
Seriously impressed!
Where is the big mansion-type place at the back from?
On the subject of the Inn, here are a couple more pictures

Sadly, now out of stock, but there may be a chance of a reappearance, so I am told...

Why, thankyou, sir.
I am sad to say that yours is the only state I have visited. But we have breathed the same air, I have visited Busch Gardens a few times. Travelling the States is my retirement dream.

Well, Paul, your table is great too. I bought the Mansion at a Tabletop Sale in Bristol a few years ago, scratch built and around £25. I had to have it.

Lucky you!

Is there a wargamer in the UK who doesn't have at least one PMC timber-framed house? :D

I work a few miles from Busch Gardens, sadly I don't think they give away the free beer anymore. I want to travel the world also when I retire, my wife and I are on a debt crusade right now to ensure we retire confortable....not rich but we won't have many worries...being just 20+ years away is scarey....saw on Yahoo these sites where you can house swap with people around the world so you can travel to other lands on the cheap.

I am only 2-3 years away from retiiring, went debt-free about 4 years ago, most wonderful feeling!!!
We were at Busch in 2010, no free beer or the beer pouring course that you could do when I was there in 2002. :'(
