Title: Help needed: how to paint helmet visor
Post by: Relic on 17 April 2012, 07:43:53 PM
I've been painting miniatures with helmets that have visors, and I am not satisfied with the end results at all :/. My steps to paint them are

Basecolor to the whole visor
Then a lighter shade of the base color to the mid section or a little lower
Even lighter shade to the lowest part
White dot to upper left and lower right corner

Ive been painting blue visors and they dont look good at all.

Any tips for painting these and I think the same goes for windows etc. Reflective surfaces

Thanks!

Why not try using a metallic paint?  On one of my 40K Imperial Guards, I lightly dry brushed mithril silver on top of the blue I painted on the visor.  I liked the way it came out.
