Some of you probably know about this already but Peter Jackson, the director of Lord of the Rings is a huge WW1 aviation buff. Here's what you do with a hundred mil$:

Someone else started this topic on the TMP regarding the Perry's commission to sculpt miniatures for Jackson.

There was a cracking tv programme on this company on UK tv recently; seeing those machines flying was just superb. They even built the Se5 to original spec then re did her in line with the pilot feedback from WW1

There is some confusion about this particular film ---- but it was apparently a short trailer done by Peter Jackson to demonstrate the capabilities of a new camera. Sadly I don't think there was an actual short film, or feature film that ever came out of this. It does show some of his love for WW1 though.

There is a short film made by and directed by Peter Jackson showing at the Australian War Memorial depicting an aerial dog fight over the Western Front. All I can say that if Peter Jackson thought seriously about this genre then it would be a winner in my books. The short film was fantastic.

You are quite right that was the simple basis behind the making of the film. I see the Perry's have been barnstorming in Peter's aircraft again ...lucky B.....
