73 B.C. Ancient Rome. Some gladiators led by the Thracian Spartacus breaking out of a gladiatorial school in Capua. Third Servile War begins. And this uprising will shake the Rome..
Actually this project is a spin-off of my another Ancient Germania project:

Not the first time I can't keep the track :)
I only needed some farmers/colonists for that and bought these nice Foundry figures. This lovely range was a great fun to paint and I've did more than planned. Also on this inspiration wave I've bought the amazing Spartacus range of Aventine. Now I'm sitting at a new mountain of lead and looking forward to paint it.
The figures today are all from my recent LPL entries. No painted Spartacus yet. I still unsure what miniature I will take for this purpose. Probably Aventione one. Also no painted revolting gladiators yet.
But anyway, here we go.

Superb collection already, with plenty of options for adding to.
You could spend years on this one (you wont, though, will you? We all know the power of distraction! ::))
Beautiful paintjobs and the first photo is just wonderful!

Very nice: you can almost feel the Mediterranean sun in the light colour choices.
Can we have close-ups of the women from the first picture, too, please?

Stunning!! :-* :-* :-*

Prof, can you talk a little bit about using the Foundry Expert Flesh set as opposed to uusing the old Foundry Flesh 5A/5B/5C? Is using the expert set simply like using the 3-stage set with intermediate tones or does it differ somehow?

Yes, that simply. Expert Flesh offers 6 stages (A/B/C/D/E/F), though I hardly ever used the F.
For the mediterran skin tones I take the Foundry Expert Flesh A and B, Foundry Chestnut 53C, and Expert Flesh E for the highlights.

Really outstanding.

Really lovely stuff as always Prof! :-*

Great pictures! Great painting, and one of my favourite subjects, too. I am painting some of the same minis (but not as well!).

Will you use them for gaming? If so, which rules? Skirmish or bigger games?
-
Your "Revolt" LPL entry was one of my favorites of the league. :-*

thanks for the kind comments, lads :)

Sure, not much as I'm not that mad about gaming but a couple of times I hope to game it. I think, I will use Triumph&Tragedy for that.
