On the recent trip to The Falkirk Wargames Show my brother bought me The Secrets of the Third Reich rule book. I've always loved the idea of weird WWII and it was a choice between that or Dust Tactics. The thing that put me off of Dust was the new stater set, I don't like the walkers that come with it, the old one with the medium walkers was much better IMO. That and the fact that you can't use historical vehicles.
Anyway of the four main sides, my brother picked the US and went with German troops. As well as the starter box set of Mech Grenadiers, I've now also bought a dust Heavy Panzer Walker( I don't like the SOTR ones!) The starter box comes with enough models to make a HQ squad, a ten man squad and a unit of Jaegerhund. I've only built the Command squad and the werewolves so far and I have to say, that I like the designs but the casting quality is crap!! :( I've got big chunks of lead in ackward places and the casts for one of the heads has moved before the lead has cured which means my commanders back and front of his head doesn't line up!! :'(
Anyway this is how far I've got so far...

....and this is the colour scheme I'm going to go with. A winter/green camo with white body armour...

I'm also going to redo my boards I have in my house for this. I had two foam boards I was using for an Arctic Scene, but I hardly used them!! I'm going to change them so that I have a fairly dried out river bed and bits of embankment either side. This is what I'm planning....

The plan is to cover the board in scattered snow banks. I've got some old we bits of terrain I plan to reuse for this. Some of it was for 40k, some for pulp.....

Good luck ;)

Good luck! Looks like a great start to me, in any case. Love the bridge, the colour scheme for the models sounds great, and like you, I've always loved the idea of WWW2 gaming. In fact, in a project not so far away, I plan on doing some straight WW2 in 28mm so that I can "add" some Weird elements in the future - so I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this!

Nah, you'll be fine. Remember there is no shame in painting bits of scenery as you add it to the board during set up 8)
-
Good luck. Maybe we can get a game in at a BLAM in the future - I'm just embarking on a British force.

Looking good so far.
Did you spray the big mech black?
What was the original colour?
Are you keeping the plastic bases white. My werewolf and vombies have black bases so you can't use them lol

I would love to, the only problem is I ain't going to make it to BLAM this year!! Unfortunately got a wedding AND my first house to but this year!! Maybe next year.

It's actually grey. I haven't touched it yet, that's how it comes out of the box. It's a bit annoying, the Dust people have semi-built it and if I want to take the armour plates off to paint behind them, I need to break it!! Im going to use the spare AA guns to make an AA emplacement as well.

I like the board it's pretty cool. is it just a small 4x4 board or is it a bit larger I might have to copy you.

Looks like a great start in your foray into the weirder side of WWII.
Look forward to seeing more from ya,
