Title: Mammutjäger
Post by: abu iskander on 13 May 2012, 08:38:46 PM
Once a period i never imagined painting or playing, I have discarded my prejudices against cavemen games.  If my young boy likes it, it's a good game.

So, here is our first game.  Skrog and Foq's mammoth hunt.

The valley of the tusked ones at dawn.

The spiked pits emplaced.

The hunt begins.

Fire scares beasts.

Skrog's flint is sharp.  A lucky shot fells a beast.

More fire is more good.

The last beast moves uphill.

The hunters close in.

Foq moves in and makes the kill. Mammoth feast tonight!.

Ha, nice. The only things missing are a blonde cave woman with fur bikini (hint hint) and a big tar pool or two :)

a blonde cave woman with fur bikini

How did you miss her? First thing I saw!  ;)

Never thought I'd have the urge to play a mammoth hunt game, but now suddenly I can't think of anything else...

Nice game with nice minis and terrain!

I'll photograph the figures properly sometime the week, including the more salacious types.

I built the smoke out of steel wool which I spray painted. I glue-gunned it to steel washers and then applied some acrylic "water gel" (ironically) to make the flames.  This guy's method is pretty similar and he has a lot of good stuff on his site:

That looks great - I might just nick this idea; I reckon it might actually tempt my youngest kid away from the Xbox!

Thanks everyone.  Here, as promised, are some closer shots of some of the hunters.

Experimenting a bit with my photography against a totally white background. Hope they don't look weird or "off" in some way.

Ugh! Ugh!

The tribe chief with the antler headgear and fur is very imposing!

Really reminds me of "Quest for Fire".

The figures are great - really like the kid with the rock!

Who makes them?

Thanx consider the idea stolen... :D

Thanks Jonas, I found your Horizont Tusk! build very cool. Glad you like my much more modest set up.  Now it's got me thinking about a Teddy Roosevelt Dino Safari.

I love this kind of stoneage thingies.

Made a little diorama a while ago using the cavemen from Copplestone and some kind of, uhm, salt dough mammoth  ;)
