Like many other wargamers I was drawn into the hobby by GW, although I never played a lot of Warhammer Fantasy or 40k- didn’t liked the system very much - I liked the miniatures and the background but never managed to paint up a whole army. After nearly a decade I was sick of it all and pretty close to quit the hobby when a friend of mine sparked my interest in historical wargaming by showing me the napoleonic russians in the Foundry catalogue and I fell in love with them.
So here is what I have painted in approximately ten years, with lots of breaks of course.

A great collection. Lots of consistency in your painting and basing too given the ten year period you have been working on this project. :-*

Thank you!
Talking about consistency, I've did a little cosmetics to the older bases ;)
Also with a close up you might find some differences but overall I think it works well and I'm satisfied with the result.

Wow! Marc, that is quite a collection :-*

Lovely to behold 8)

Lovely, Tellus!
I especially like the Grenadiers, but to be quite frank they all look very nice!
-
Good to see these Marc :)
As Nick says, there isn't a lot of difference between them 8)
cheers

I love them all. It's especially nice to see the effort you put into the opolchenie. They are gems.

They are certainly my favourite figures, and you have done very well indeed with them. :-* :D
-
A great looking army!
:-*
I realise it would take some time, but a shot of the whole would be fantastic!*
;)
*(You can always tell me to sod off, of course!)

Love the Opolczeniie, an army to be proud of, congrats.
-
Nice! :o

Thanks for your kind words :-*
@ Mason
my dear friend Don Voss already asked my to do that when I showed them in the Sweetwater-Forum, always pushy that guy lol
Now it's done, I was able to squeeze them all in one shot ;)

Which means, of course, that you don't have enough and need many more... ;)

Don't put that spell on me lol
Seriously, I'm already working on more stuff o_o

Very good painting and photography!
I've always had a soft-spot for Foundry Napoleonic Russians and they really do repay careful painting, and, basing.
You can never have too many so I encourage you to buy some more!
Reckon that they would also be entirely compatible with Perry's own range of Russians as their later Foundry Russian infantry sculpts were both taller and finer than some of their earlier/other Foundry ranges.
Cheers,
Paul

stunning collection! you can be very proud ;-)
-
Excellent stuff, now get on with the rest old chap, you have the French to do next :D
-
@ PAULSPENCE
I already have bought some of the new Perry Russians. As you mentioned the Foundry one's are already taller so this is no problem. And as the Perrys aren't too consistent about tallness in their own ranges I don't worry about that at all ;)
@ Phil Robinson
I know, I know, there is some french lead in the pile and a few figures are already painted but at the moment my output is very, very low. I'll be glad when I got the stuff done that we need for our participation game at Tactica '13 o_o

Wouw, i recognize every sculpture of them ! Since i undercoated this month 20 bataillions of 24 peaces each of these foundry russians. I like your pictures because i see now what it will become !
Still not found my vallejo color paint codes what i shall use on these russions. Can you help me out.

I'm sure Tellus will along shortly, to share what paints he used in his collection.
As a point of comparision, I have also painted up a large number of Foundry Russians (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=32039.0 (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=32039.0)), and painted them chiefly with the Wargames Foundry 'Napoleonic' range of paints. You might want to have a look, and see if they are for you.
-
The army looks wounderful!
Thanks for sharing.

@ Slekke
Well, mainly I used Foundry Colors so I don't know if telling you the codes would help you a lot. Especially for the green uniforms I used at least 3 different dark greens as there had been a couple of years in between painting the different units. So if you're still interested specific colors I've used feel free to ask.
On the other hand I don't care too much about trying to be spot on with the colors, I use the ones that look best to me.

Will open a new topic about napoleonic vallejo colors.

After my Peninsula British/Spanish/Portuguese are done I was thinking Russians as my next Napoleonic project. Thanks for posting that Russki inspiration.
