Myself, Malamute and Dr D'e'ath had a little Robin Hood bash today to try the rules and refresh our memories etc. Can't remember what they are called but I'm sure someone ;) will tell us.
The game was basically three groups of about 9-10 figures. One group of 'woodsmen', one group of the false-kings men and one group of heroic kings men (me :D ).
The initial board layout
(http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk138/jimbibbly/Robin%20Hood/edab3a28.jpg)
My group moves towards the village to try and protect the church from a villainous band of roving knights under the false king John.
Unfortunately a band of wild woodsmen are making for the church live stock and let loose with a barrage of bow shafts taking out two spearmen.
My loyal band of faithful retainers were then mercilessly set upon by the group of un-true knights and quite resoundingly beaten :-[

Meanwhile, the dastardly woodsmen were taking advantage of the nearby ruckus and were trying to steal the local sheep (for what purpose one can only guess...)
Unfortunately, my followers had to yield to the enemy (better to live and fight another day) and so we joined forces and started toward the woodsmen.
But to no avail, they got clean away without a single casualty and F**king Massive John even managed to steal two sheep, one under each arm ::) A final salute from Bill Crimson (Will Scarlets cousin) was all that was left to us...

Figures from the collections of all three players (a mix of manufacturers) and all the terrain is mine, some old, some new.
Good, quick but fun game with plenty more in the pipeline :D
cheers
James

Lovely stuff as always jimbibbly :-*
Thank you for sharing. :D
-
Oh, lovely, shiny new pics and no rules name? You are so cruel!! lol
-
Well, okay, I felt ignored under my Robin Hood query but this does give me some ideas for my developing Robin Hood adventures. Very nicely done - but where was Robin and his bow? lol
-
I set up a notification on your post as I wanted to see the answers as well. ;D

Thanks chaps :)
I've remembered now (it was a late posting last night lol ). The rules are a bastardised version of the old sci-fi set called 'Kill Zone' that Capt. Blood changed for his Wars of the Roses games and we altering slightly for our games.
cheers

Lovely looking game !!!
Thanks for a some good pictures and a nice AAR, looking forward to the next one.
-
Great looking game. I bet you had fun !
-
Aaaaaaaaaargh!
This is what I hate about the LAF - now I want to chuck out all my other projects, start a Robin Hood thing (as I've already got the models for - no surprises there...) and read the book again. lol
Wicked cool!
(Maybe we could make it a standard acronym: WC)
-
Coolly wicked! And delightful.
-
A cruel distortion of the facts there I must say...... Those villianous Norman dogs (AKA Jimbibbly's men) running away half way through a fight, it just goes to show what Saxon steel can do.
It was a great evening, I can't wait to see Mark's photos. :)

Roll on Blam!

Cracking Game :D
-
Actually, I think the sheriff's helmet is too shiny. Needs a purple wash.
::)
-
Looks like the three of you had a great time frollicking in the woods!

lol
I don't know about that, but it certainly got a good polishing ;) lol
-
Very nice stuff you got over there :)

Please don't, I nearly cracked a rib laughing last night lol
Thanks again chaps. We're going to have another bash in a week or two to iron out some of the changes and introduce mounted figures etc.
Also there will be sheep rustling, boar baiting and lots of skirmish game goodness.
And then there's the archery game but I'll let Dr De'ath tell us about that (it's fucking great fun :D )
cheers

Yeah well. I ought to know better than trying to teach an old dog new tricks. lol
I expect nothing but purple for me when I go to Woking next...
-
You need a Glen! ;)
-
Fantastic game board, excellent figures, brilliant paint jobs - what is there not to like?
-
Looks like another success from the Bibbly/Malamute/De'Ath stables.
-
Cracking looking game :-* :-* :-*
Love some of the Knights. Is the heraldry real or made up?
-
and introduce mounted figures etc.
What the f**k is f**king massive John going to do with those shee...oh I see sorry, carry on ;)

Really? Wow so are the woodsmen Aberdonian or Welsh? I really do wonder.
Fantastic looking game :-* Would love to play something like this! The terrain is just stunning and the paint jobs lovely and clean!
Two thumbs up!
Cheers

@ JB
Is the actual table surface one of yuour creations? I'm interested in how it's constructed as I want to try something different to the thick sheets of insulation foam and the lake edge does look very effective.
-
Are they available to we mere mortals? Or are they still being developed? :P
Thanks chaps :)

Wow, the 28 mm picture views make the figures and terrain look even better. :-*
-
Yeah, love the finger/s from Robin. lol

::)
Somebody left the lid off the superglue again :o
lol lol

"Evil robber knights" indeed...! True Saxon nobles and rightful defenders of the faithful, thats what we are. I think we shall have to have words with those woodsmen in due course.... ;)

Only when FMJ is not around, though, I bet!

I really like the miniatures, very well painted! I also love the gaming board and the scenery!
-
Thanks gents :)
More to follow in a week or two :D

The table surface is just a grass sheet stuck down to a board and then the board has been edged with batten to strengthen it. I'll take a couple of closer shots of the lake if you like. That was a sheet of MDF on the bottom with the edge cut in the top board and then smoothed with filler to create the shore.
Are they available to we mere mortals? Or are they still being developed?
They are just being used for our small campaign and there is no plan to 'publish' them. If you ask Capt Blood nicely, he might let you have a peep ;)
I'll be painting more figures over the weekend and I've also got some wolves to paint up (thanks Steve).
cheers

"defenders of the faithful"
So how do you square that with your original plan to rob and pillage the church? ;)
" I think we shall have to have words with those woodsmen in due course "
Bring it on! I think you'll find us a little more of a challenge than those Norman Nancies you took on in the village. lol
PS - got some fresh mutton going cheap, want any?

Close up photos of the board/lake construction? Yes please! :-)

Wow, neat game.
Even neater painted figures and terrain.
Can't wait to see more. ;D

Looks like a great game, Jim!
And I agree with the good viking doctor. This forum is a poison to the mind. Since this morning I've been tempted with buying some modern Portugese, and maybe to invest in Force and Force and shit loads of miniatures, and then after viewing the Caps Men-At-Arms project, I'm tempted to do a game in rural France with mercanaries running around creating chaos...
-
Great stuff chaps! So we have someone shining the sheriffs helmet and a bunch of guys making a balls up of sacking a small hamlet full of cottagers? Then there's the bagging of sheep........
Excellent figures, layout and Dr D never lets us down with his pics.
More and soon please gentlemen.............. actually after reading the AAR I take the gentlemen bit back ;).

Paint those bloody French first! Malamute nearly developed a bicep carrying them across the North Sea for you ;)

Yes, you still owe me for the carriage of said figures. ;)

I had a shave yesterday you cheeky bugger ;D
Got a couple more building carcasses done but I'll post them when they've got a bit of timbering on them.
cheers

Brilliant Stuff :D
