I've seen people say that the newer westwind figures and the seperate head figures are both better quality than the old stuff, which I really thought were bad.On the Mainly28s site the new figs and SHS figures are also larger, which I like as they will fit better with my other figures.
My question is which ranges are the new figures? The SHS figures are in a seperate area on the site but the old and new I can't tell which is which.
Looking at the pics it looks like the "German 1944" figs are kind of plain, so I'm guessing old style?
The "Waffen SS" look better so are they new?
Also since Warlord decided to mutilate the BEF miniatures and replace the heads with their undersized(read pin heads, thee work fine with BA figures but BEF are a little bulkier in the body) seperate heads would the westwind heads work better?
Any help appreciated.

The Berlinor Bust range are the older, poorer quality figures, all the SHS range is the newer stuff, they are bigger and a lot nicer, I used to have some British and quite liked them. The heads needed a little work to fit properly though.

I went back to the Mainly 28s site and in the reviews there is a list of the new packs in the Berlin or Bust range.Mainly 28s is one of the most useful sites on the web for 28mm gaming.Any manufacturer of 28mm figures, especially moderns and WW2, should send their figures there to have them added to the comparison section.
Thanks londoncopper I'll order some heads to fix my f*@$ed up BEF miniatures also.

Some do not like the separate heads system, I think it is good and I might even consider producing some figures with that option, but only special ones.
As to the ranges, the old figures had different aspects about their sculpture that eventually changed, today some brands are more careful about the size of guns/equipment (having more to scale rifles instead of big wood logs) size of hands and heads, plus bulkiness of their sculptures and other aspects.
Today's market is much more competitive, this is positive towards compatibility, quality, better sculpture etc.

Thank you, kind sir! Much appreciated.
I know the site is a little outdated, and I need to fix it up and bring it into the century of the fruitbat, but after my stroke a few years ago I've struggled a little. I plan to work on it again later this year, although any "new" samples would jump to the head of the queue!

I think separate heads is a great idea, but especially so for ordinary rank and file figures, a simple head change is enough to make them look different. Special figures by virtue of being individuals are less in need of further variation.

Westwinds separate heads don't have the bulldog facial expressions of BAM, IMHO much more realistic and better, they fit the BAM range with a bit of Filing, i have used both BOB and SOTR heads on BAM with no problem
