Title: Chaos in Carpathia movement rules
Post by: Snugger on May 21, 2012, 10:40:45 AM
I have a tendency to move into OCD-territory when reading rules for new systems, especially close to actually trying them for the first time. It's been a long time coming, but this week we will finally test a proper game of CinC. I have, however, issues with interpreting the movement rules in a definite matter. So:

1. Both climbing and crawling is listed under special actions, but they both affect how a model moves. Does a climb action or a crawl action actually spend BOTH a move action and a special action, and so prevent the model from doing anything else? Or is it just sloppy editing to put them in the special actions subchapter?

2. Under climbing it says
Quote
A model may not Charge up a
vertical surface, and must stop at its base and
wait until next turn to begin its ascent.
Does this only apply to Charge actions, or must a model stop at its base when performing other types of movement as well?

Just in case you wonder: I have no problems with fudging the written rules when they don't fit our group, but I really prefer to get a good understanding of them as written first.

1. Yes, half movement and no special actions.

2. You can never charge up a vertical surface.

But nore that climbing doesn't include ladders and the like. It's for climbing up trees or walls. So you won't use it very often (if ever).
You can "stand up" and still use a special action like a close combat attack though.

That's just my interpretation, nothing official.
