I have gotten distracted again and started a new project. I would like some help in finding out information on my Great Uncle's unit he served with in France.
Here is what I have so far: http://cstoesen.blogspot.com/2012/05/closing-in-on-memorial-day.html (http://cstoesen.blogspot.com/2012/05/closing-in-on-memorial-day.html)

Chris,
I can't help directly, but have you tried poking around through www.archive.org? The only history of the 47th I could find was one for the civil war, but there are quite a few WW1 books by and about Americans available there.

That was just a search for personal narratives. James Norman Hall's books aren't much help to your immediate quest, but I highly reccommend them anyway if you have some spare time!
Good luck in your search.

Archive.org is always an awesome resource as is books.google.com. I will see what I can find.

Obtaining copies of service records from WW1 US soldiers is difficult (I believe many records were lost in a fire in the 40's). You may want to take your question here:

Thanks. I will head on over there.
