Title: Belt drive bike
Post by: Tobsen77 on 01 June 2012, 10:29:19 PM
Hi LAF!

A new bike, inspired by an old Modern Mechanics cover: The belt drive bike. A seat and some details still missing. I'll get a generic driver sculpted for it soon...

Cheers,

I thought you meant like an old Kawazaki GPz 305, that had a belt instead of a chain! lol

I think the rider needs a bigger moustache, but that's just a personal observation ;)

Very, very nice piece of work. The sculpting / modelling of the small details is perfect.

Might I suggest splitting the belt in 2 smaller belts.
That way the machine could be steered like a tank.
With only one belt that would be impossible
(I know, it's for fantasy/steam punk, but I just can't help myself noticing)

Track warping and leaning would get it around corners. It might not go round corners very effectively, or very elegantly, or very safely, but what the hey, it doesn't look like the rider would care! lol

Not exactly “fantasy”:

Wonderful little vehicle.  I would love to have a unit of these.  Just enough detail.

I stand corrected.  :o
just found an article that even explains the steering mechanism, although I certainly wouldn't want to take a tight turn with it.

This solution to the steering problem seems better :

Remarkable vehicle, but what really strikes me for some reason is the way the guy demonstrating it has a ciggie hanging casually out of his mouth.  Looks good to the potential customers, doesn't it?  I wonder if there were other photos they didn't use from that session in which he was picking his nose or scratching his balls.

Hey, that looks cool! Now, any chance of a Hinterland missy who could ride it?

It looks cool, in a way that nose picking and ball scratching never can  lol

Well, it's not a Hinterland item, of course--sorry Tobi, didn't intend to highjack the thread--but I'm sure any of the Hinterland cavalry would be willing to throw a leg over it.  Problem is, they'd throw two legs over it, and be sitting sidesaddle.   :)

Thanks all... Maybe an optional long haired riders head / upper torso? ;)

Tobsen, I hope you got from my earlier comment that, regardless of rider, this is a really cool sculpt  :-*
