Title: 1888- a dark tale
Post by: Trull on 04 June 2012, 03:19:22 PM
Hi there!
I wanted to introduce my latest finished project. The theme fits well here, it's about Jack the Ripper.
It costs me over 1000 hours to finish this diorama. I hope you enjoy it.

I spotted your WONDROUS CREATION over on C.M.o.N.. It's one of those pieces that the longer I look at it the more delightful details I spot. While you've created a piece that is far beyond my abilities to equal, it is something that inspires this Old Man to achieve more than I might otherwise...thank you. INCREDIBLY WELL DONE!

I had seen this on C'MON but thank you for letting us see it again. A truly wonderful piece of art. The compilation of elements is outstanding and I would like to think that one day I could plan out, let alone build something half as good. The desig of the Lockharts building may well be stolen  ;)

For me, this work is a piece of art in its pure and extended sense.
For simple starters like me, it would be quite helpful if you could give us some details about the materials used to recreate the scene, I mean for example:

- lamps
- buildings
- forniture
- cobblestone roads...

Congratulations and many thanks in advance.

In the face of all the brilliance in the WIP pictures I'm probably going to ask you one of the most boring questions; what did you use for the drain pipes?

you mean the rain pipes? oh, these are simple messing pipes (is there a english word for it?????) The attachment to the wall is only small strips of paper, which I wrapped around the tube.

oh my english..... ;)

Please dont apologise for your English, my German is worse!

I'm not sure what messing pipes are, it's not something I'm aware of. Do you have a link to a website where you bought them (if you bought them online that is)?

Just looked at your webiste, there's some stunning work there.

A bit of reverse engineering via Google Translation suggests Messingrohre is simple brass tubing, as if ANYTHING involved here could be 'simple'...

The windows are mostly from Auhagen
(http://www.auhagen-shop.de/product_info.php/info/p32785_Fenster-und-Gew--228-nde-f--252-r-Wohngeb--228-ude.html/XTCsid/jr3vdlos284190nr54dqf31tm6)

It,s from model railway, not exactly the right scale but it fits quite well.

It's things like this that deserve to be put in a museum and preserved. I'd forward some pics to the London Dungeon or somewhere like that as it really needs to be seen by as many people as possible. Great stuff.

Is it possible to post the photographs (both the finished and wips) again as I can't see them as they are too popular or something? Have seen them but want to take another look  :D thanks in advance

Absolutely fantastic project.  :-*

I saw some early WIP's for this project approximately 1 year ago and I was amazed.

Seeing the finished project I'm even more amazed.  :o
