Title: The Year of the Rat(trap)
Post by: Operator5 on 07 February 2008, 11:50:23 AM
The Chinese Lunar New Year begins today. It happens to be the Year of the Rat and it’s also our 3 year anniversary, so what better omens could we have to show off our release schedule for the next several months.

March
Rulebooks
PHG-45A-007 Thrilling Expeditions: Valley of the Thunder Lizard
The Thrilling Expeditions Line of supplements will be useable by all the Rattrap games (.45 Adventure, Gloire, Fantastic Worlds). They will be heavily laden with scenarios and some new rules that apply to a particular environment. This first one adds rules for prehistoric creatures, early man, and a Big Game Hunter archetype for each system.

Miniatures
PHM-45A-015   Bridget and Mo: Allies of The  Gargoyle  (2)    $6.50
PHM-45A-016   Duke and Helen: Lost World Explorers (2)    $6.50
PHM-45A-017   Smilodon: Sabre-Toothed Cat (1)   $6.00
PHM-45A-018   Megatherium: Giant Ground Sloth  (1)   $15.00

April
Rulebooks
PHM-45A-004    Mooks, Mobs, & Men of Honor   $8.00
RTT-GL-002      Ye Mean and Mighty         $8.00
RTT-FW-002     The Galacticon         $8.00

These will be print versions of our Rogues Galleries and will include the newest one for Fantastic Worlds.

June
Rulebooks
RTT-GL-004   Among the War Parties   Price TBD
This is the newest supplement for Gloire and allows for adventures in the Americas. Plenty of new archetypes, skills (like stalking for Native Americans) and some great new scenarios. Among the War Parties has enough information to run games from the early conquistadores to nearly the War of 1812.

August
Rulebooks
RTT-BA-001 Broadsword Adventures   Price TBD
This is our newest game world. Broadsword Adventures: Savage Tales of Fantasy allows for exploits set in a world similar to the other great barbarian stories of the pulp era. Will you take a noble barbarian, wandering the world as mercenary or a treacherous sorcerer intent on enslaving all mankind or even a heroic Captain of the Guard, protecting the city from all manner of fell creatures? And we may even have a limited edition hardcover, signed and numbered, for those who want something extra special.

We’ll also be releasing a bunch of new miniatures to go along with Broadsword Adventures. Once we have the pack compositions worked out, we’ll be posting about these releases as well.

And don’t think we’re done yet either. Oh no. We have plenty more in store for you but I’m still working out where some things will be in the schedule. Do you want some hints? How about a series of semi-historical gangster scenarios for .45 Adventure? Another new game released before the end of the year? And more for Fantastic Worlds? Plus other surprises!

2008 will be our biggest year yet! If you have not taken the time to check out our games, there are plenty of free downloads on The Speakeasy (our forums) and all our current products are listed in the online store.

As a Gloire fan and F&I gamer, "Among the War Parties" sounds like a must-have. I think it will nicely complement "This Very Ground" .

To celebrate this I decided to finally order .45 and the Mooks supplement. I am tempted, as suggested by Pete Murray, to put it to use with the Duke of Nutherland Kennel Club of Monimasket and a group of still to be decided antagonists. (Cthulu cultists?  Some ghastly catholic plebs from Glasgow? The Monimasket constabulary?)

I really really would love to see some .45 action with  the famous Club of Monimasket. The members of that legendary club are just predestined for this sort of adventuring. Cthulhu cultists are always good to be the antagonists but also catholic plebs sound intriguing. On the other hand I'm sure the members of the club would have a good fight against some mad scientists with their metall hounds....

How about the members of the Kennel Club having a rivalry with another club. Anything goes on the field of a dog show.

Great more goddies from Rattrap! I know when my tax rebate will be going.

I am looking forward to the new minis, as Duke and Helen are perfect fits for a couple of characters in my Pulp RPG game. Might even get my wife interested in trying out some .45 Adventures.

Here is hoping that some of the unnamed goodies will have a horror motiff to them.

Cheers,
Troll

A good idea, as far as I know the members of Duchess of Hulgoland Suffragette Club of Panneberg don't like those softie dog-lovers at all.

Right. Or a intense fight for the Presidency of the venerable and prestigous club. I can see The R.H. Sir Poore-Lyer and his minions against Dame Cholmondley-Warner (no pic yet) in a dog-eats-dog internal struggle.

Speaking of which... I remember the interesting comment of Plynkes about perky boobs in the Rattrap covers... What are you going to use in Among War Parties???

NPCs or quick use characters if you're teaching someone the rules or just a faction to start with as you give the rules a try.

They're also worth buying just for the inspiration. I found the Gloire rogue's gallery extremely inspirational, and a joy to read. You've got your mysterious wandering swordmaster (like the "Man With No Name", only with a tricorne and a rapier  ), secret Da Vinci Code-style societies, a scandalous gentleman whose famously extravagant wagers keep getting the people around him into trouble, a cruel inquisitor with his fanatical myrmidons, and much more besides.

Yep, can't wait., .45A is my primary source of inspiration for purchasing/painting pulp minis... Secondary is Astounding Tales, Tertiary Rugged Adventures....
