I thought I'd begin a new thread for this as the original thread was started back in December 2009.... ::)
It's designed to be used in My Texas Revolution/Alamo/Zorro/Pirate games and is loosely based on the original Spanish Governors Palace in San Antonio, Texas.
For those wanting to see the initial details and its photos check out the original thread here:

I had for various reasons stalled on the build and put it away in favour of smaller simpler buildings to expand my adobe town. However there is no discernable seat of power or palace style building amongst the dozen or so I have made so far. Every now and again I would drag this model out of storage, ponder what to do with it and put it away again. About three weeks ago I determined to finish it and so I decided to document the process once again.
I am often asked how I create my adobe look, so here it is. To date all the balsa wood doors, windows, balconies etc are in place. All the window black outs are in and the model has been glued to the base board. All joins are sealed and it now awaits its adobe render of watered down Polyfilla sparingly added with a palate knife.

I have placed the first shrubs(not glued) in the formal garden to get an idea of the layout along with two Hebe trees(foliage to be added later)
The curtains/drapes are made from green stuff and fixed in place prior to glueing onto the baseboard along with the small juliet balcony
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/10/86_17_06_12_12_11_04_0.jpg)
Internal details already painted, gates still need to be made. I can't decide whether to hinge them or not...
The see-through gate, for the peasants to admire the garden from outside.
The last two photos show the balconies, louvred doors and ornate panelled doors in more detail. ( My original build thread details door construction.)

So next up is the adobe rendering of the whole building and walls. Then I need to add tiled steps by the main doors, fill the flower beds with soil, add ground texture to the outside, paint the exterior details, add a tiled roof and details to the smaller courtyard. Finally add the plants and flowers, make the two trees and add some flags to the front.... ::)

Wicked cool! :D

Looking magnificent already!
Can't wait to see more.

Awesome looking building! Would it be possible for you to do a small tutorial on the rendering process when you get around to it as I'm curious as to how you do it/consistencies and mixtures etc. It would be really helpful if you could anyway. Thanks.

Its now complete, well it was actually finished back in October, just in time for BLAM 2012 where it featured in my "Return of the Mark of Zorro rides again" game. I realised whilst it appeared in a few of the AAR photos from the game I had never photographed it and finish this thread. So here it is with a few miniatures for set dressing. :)

The Mexican Vaquero was one of my first attempts at sculpting and as such an experiment, I only ever cast a few up. I don't have any left over and the mould is now defunct. :?
However when Matthew gets better there will be a pack of Mexican civilians in the works with much better sculpts. :)
-
superb detailing. I love the work you've done on the windows and doors.
Great piece. Also the siesta taking mexican is great.
-
Nick - did you sculpt him? If so, why have you been hiding this talent?
-
Fabulous work Nick :-*

And Silent Invader already commented on that back in 2010. But he just doesn't remember.
Go back to your post about Don something and his cattle and you'll see. lol

Really good job, I like it a lot!!
I´m specially amazed about how you managed to paint the cactuses so realistic :o
-
I consider my self very privileged to have been allowed to put some wear on it. A beautiful game, both in looks and gaming.

Is the mad Viking teasing me? I went back and looked at may posts for 2010 (and there were a lot of them) but couldn't find a mention.......
Great sculpt though Nick - all these talents. :D

Incredibly delightful project!
How many hours have you invested in this?

I made the first building, the San Fernando church back in March 2008. I started the Governor's palace in Dec 2009 and finished it After somewhat of a long hiatus in October 2012.
Off and on over the last five years I have made enough buildings to fill a 10x4ft table. I can't actually remember how many I have now though! lol
One of these days I'll lay them all out and photograph the whole town. :D

Hope you don't mind me posting this, I found pics I took of your mansion during the 'Zorro Rides Again' game at BLAM. I remember being stunned by the whole board, but the garden in particular!!
