Im thinking of sculpting a hazmat team, whats your thoughts on this? is there call for more figures like this? ...
-
it depends on how you are going to do it. Eureka do a few modern US and Russians
-
If we are talking 28mm - hasselfree, victory force and copplestone do hazmat figures. Plus there are a number of companies that do 28mm modern troops in gas mask and/or NBC gear (including the afor mentioned Eureka figures - which in my view are the best of the lot). If you are thinking about a different scale the field is much less crowed.
-
I'd very much like to see UNARMED Hazmat teams.
I think they'd be popular.
-
As mentioned, unarmed HAZMAT would be something new. If they are going to be a group of armed (even down to the multiple assault rifles, shotgun and flamer) then I would advise against it. There's just too many options out there already. The better idea would be to sculpt something that is not already available in bulk.
Again, if you're just doing it for yourself or the fun of sculpting, and don't care about making a buck at it, then sculpt whatever you like.

Thanks guys for the feed back. I have sculpted some hazmat figures and working on some sci-fi figures, i have added some pictures of both. the hazmat are for sale but not sure what kind of price i should be looking for?. the two little sci-fi guys are part of a larger set not yet finished but close.

A bit too close to Hasslefree's maybe though :?
As some of the details are (nearly) an exact copy of those.

Yeah i see what you mean. Its my first proper set of figures and took inspiration from them. maybe they will sit on my table for the rest of their days lol.

I think they are quite nice. I'm not in the market for Hazmat figures but if you fancied doing some 1980s Brits in NBC gear or some plain Chinese infantry for the 1970s I'd be very interested.

Hi carlos, i'll get on it today and look for some pictures to get an idea of what your talking about. how many figures are you thinking in the set? and what kind of poses etc, etc?......

I'm afraid that with hazmat gear there aren't too many differences on the whole, so they will look similar, unless you go for the really ridiculous looking 'boy in a bubble' ones.
Personally I think there's a largely untapped need for first responders in general... Fire crews, paramedics etc. If you look into the zombie apocalypse field too, there's scope to arm them with fire axes, crow bars and other 'instant weapons' too. Most figures about have guns, which is fine in time, but on day 1 I'd expect something more improvised.

I agree, I would love to see some more unarmed emergency service crew such as paramedics and firemen. Would also like to see some State Troopers with the wide brimmed hats. Also it would be nice to see some more civilian Hazmat guys too, with maybe just Geiger counters rather than automatic weapons and flame throwers (that isn't to say that your set isn't beautifully sculpted because it is, especially the Geiger counter chap). These types of figures would be useful for loads of settings and I'm sure they'd sell really well.

This is the real goldmine : FIRST RESPONDERS (firemen, ambulance staff,...)
