Title: Napoleonic Russian General Sashes
Post by: nvrsaynvr on June 21, 2012, 07:09:12 AM
A voice from afar asks, "I believe regimental and battalion level officers were wearing white sashes. Elting's uniform volume has a Russian general officer in 1812 wearing a light blue sash.

I'm painting up a half dozen general officers and their staffs – guessing there is some variation, can someone give me some points of interest on the subject?
"

Well, all officers including generals wore a silver sash with black and orange threading mixed in.  The azure ribbon worn over the shoulder in Elting's volume is a ribbon of St. Andrew, worn with the star on the breast.  It looks like there are small ribbons of St. George and St. Anna as well.
