I saw that and wondered what might be next.

Nice to see those brought back from the dead. The people who paid an arm and a leg to get them second-hand over Ebay might be slightly pissed off though.

They shouldn't be.
Gracias,

I got outbid about 5 times lol
-
Great news! - Which command pack would you use for them?
-
I got outbid about 5 times lol
That was only because of your stingy bid amounts :D
-
I haven't seen these before
Are they based on historical troops or are they a flight of fancy??
-

He could easily afford them too. ;) lol

Hopefully you will save money now by the resurrection of the figures?

Yep, they're historical. There's as well documented as probably can be in Foundry's East Africa volume. There have been a number of Colonial Adventures threads on them, at least one showing a better version of this plate:

Sadly, the Zanzibar History site seems to have died. Huh; here's an interesting postcard, with them looking particularly informal:

We could fight the whole of the Anglo-Zanzibar War in real time now.
Bagsie I get to be British lol
-
Nice! :D I'll get some, time and funds permitting.
-
I am so very glad to see these, as one of those stuck trying to bid on ebay.
-
Could be used as Uniformed Askari. British etc. Yes?
-
Nice to see them return! :) I bought mine some months ago for 0.70p a piece. :D

According to a little book for teenagers from the 30s I bought at a car boot sale, perhaps even as Germans?
Here's a quick photo... Note the lack of footwear! :D

Okay, not to request information that is none of my business but I seem to be missing something here...
Gracias,

Its Ok Glenn, its a joke I am having with Bugsda, I have just been recovering from my third bout of Kidney Stones. ::)

Third. Oh my. My prayers and wishes for recovery without a repeat performance.
Fifteen years in nursing before I became a "merchant of death" trained me to look for the worst options - my mind turned to dialysis or worse possibilities.

Good news, now I can add to my jealously hoarded ten original-issue figures, ten not really being enough for a unit.

That depends on the rules. Some figure to troops scales 10 men is a full sized unit. What rules do you use?

Here's a link to my little group, including what I used for command. No one makes anything precisely like the plate depicting officers so I modified some Foundry and Copplestone figures.

I'm not pissed than they were re-released, even though I don't plan to acquire more. I purchased some many years ago from Copplestone and got lucky on an auction or two so I could fill out the force.
I admit to being a little angry when Foundry released figs that had been 'limited editions' but I got over that pretty fast. The concept of limited figures bother me now- if people want them, sell them dammit!

Thanks for that, nice job on the figures, I'm sure I've got a Pulp Figures German who will be willing to escape the box he has been in for the last few years.

Chick & Co.
And now I don't feel quite so guilty about converting my 12 to Burmese.

This isn't a thread about Zanzibars in Newport is it?
Only when I went it was big on boob tubes and low on Fez's...
-

And Force Publique Askari he says hopefully?
-
From the surviving uniforms of the Force Publique on display in Brussels, their askaris wore a collarless blouse, tucked into knickerbockers that reached just below the knee. Foundry's "Belgian Askaris" are based on these.
The Copplestone Zanzibaris are wearing tunics with stand-up collars, worn over long trousers.

Thank you Allen
Well, as this in effect another variant to my Explorers i think a trip to Foundry is in order. And as i'm working out of our Nottinghan City office on Fri, it would be rude not to call in ...

Thanks for the kind words, they're pretty minor conversions really- the greenstuff work isn't the best either- that's why the pics are kind of far away :)
