So, what do you fellow cultists think of using this "mini" from Warmahordes to represent the key and the gate?

I'd use it in a diorama I'm planning, in which mythos creatures are spawning from a portal in the Miskatonic University campus, and a single police car has arrived to investigate what's going on (scene set in present day).
The three druids would represent three cultist of the three outer gods: Azathoth, Shub-Niggurath, and Yog-Sothoth itself.
The celestial fulcrum would represent Yog-Sothoth, or an avatar of it. I know it's lacking a lot of spheres, but it's the closest model I've ever seen.
What do you all think? Do you like the idea, or do you know of any alternative model? Also, any source of extra balls for converting this one?

How big balls?
Grekwood miniatures has various size of ball bearings. But none of those are as big as the big orbs on your model.

Sounds very cool, and ambitious!
Can one obtain the cultist seperately?
-
Check the local craft store for cheap bags of wooden beads. There should be assorted sizes and possile something that matches the patterns on the existing models.

Privateer Press have a parts service, so the Druids should be easily obtainable from their webstore.

Great fin and thanks for sharing, this infernal machine would also be good in any Hellboy scenario...

Indeed, here they are:

5.50$ each. Not a bad price.
Unfortunately, they don't sell spare spheres, which are made from resin. Will have to search for those wooden beams. Cheers.รง
Edit: I've just found some acrylic balls, ranging from 3.2mm diameter to 38mm. The site isn't the friendliest one for non-UK customers (no Paypal and need to check shipping fee through email), but those balls can fit my needs if I don't find something useful in DIY stores near my place.

I'm imagining this crossed with the funny celestial orrerry (sp?) thingy gw recently put out...

Extra balls could be had from a Craft store Macrame section of wooden beads. They range in sizes up to around 2 inches across.
