Guess what I am going to use them for. The winner will get eternal honor and if possible a lollipop.
Clues:
1. It fits in this subsection of the board but could possibly fit in another subsection too.
2. If you go back in time to the first Fallout computer game you are right in time, but still wrong.
3. There where a computer game made, but it was never well known and it is not the computer game gamers will recognise.
Perhaps it will be easy to guess, perhaps not!
The contest ends in a few days or more.....

Platoon?
Apocalypice Now?
-
I'm going to go with Wasteland? lol
-
The Day After?
Invasion of the Bodysnatchers?
Dawn of the Dead?
War of the Worlds?
:D
-
Dead Patrol, the zombie web series?
-
I remember a book called "Autumn (of the dead)" or something like this.
-
Twilight 2000?
-
Alice in Wonderland? 8)

Alice in Wonderland? 8)
It is totally wrong. But damn it would be a wonderful tabletop. Especially if you "borrow" some parts from American McGee.
-
Zardoz.
-
I'm probably wrong but as no-one else has guessed this I'll hazard it: Metro 2033.
-
Got it: Wargames... :D
-
X-com: Apocalypse?
-
Perhaps some one has guessed right and perhaps not. But here are the last set of clues....
1. If using the rules slightly umodified, with two characters with M16s on each team. It took exactly one round to put three out of action and the survivor on slightly wounded level.
2. Three pics from a test round.

It does look and sound a lot like Twilight 2000 actually. But I'll throw another one in the mix, just for the heck of it; Red Dawn... ;)
-
I havent played TW2000 in years. Still got the rules and ever thing.
-
Same here. Got the boxed set still, plus several scenario books and loads of counters etc. It was a great setting... 8)

And the answer is....

Congratulation to Mahan who gets eternal honor, and if you dare to send me you name and adress a lollipop.
I am going on vacation tomorrow but when I come back I´ll tell you all about the modifications I am considerin to make it more playable.
-
Man, that was such a neat RP setting (as has been remarked); I look forward to your take on it! :)

Very cool. I'm curious as to where you will take this. I assume you will incorporate rules for miniatures?
The group I gamed with back in the day tended to mostly use the Mercs expansion though. I would have loved to get my hands on the 'weird' expansion as well, but I never found it in the (then) very scarce scattering of gaming stores in the Netherlands. (I do remember reading that one of the scenarios was called 'You're not from around here, are you?', which for some reason has stuck with me for almost 20 years...)
Will you cover the expansions as well? B)
Oh, and Mahan; enjoy your lollipop. I'd ask for an orange and raspberry flavoured one if I were you! lol

I should have the boxed rules and the computer (5 1/4" floppy) game in the garage.
The former was never played because the rep of "instant death" of parties (the "Close and Kill" D&D mind set was common in my area) in others' minds. The latter had issues - I could not get the computer to let me interact with the POI in the opening scenario.
That said, it was fun to design the PCs. I really wanted to play my "USAF" team soooo bad.
Gracias,
Glenn

yeah I loved that game. Only got to play it a few times as a teen. Most of the RPGers I run into now these days are only into Meta-gameing (pretty much, Get XP, find way to break system).
Never mind actualy trying to role-play lol.
Are there any modern supplements to TW2000 out there?

Thank you all for the replies. I am back from vacation and have been doing a lot of thinking. I will start a new tread to answer all your questions as good as I can. But I can tell you that it will be a objective-/ mission driven tabletop with rpg thinking in the background.
Unfortunatly some dastardly member suggested x-com:apocalypse as a guess, so I cant get that out of my head. Taking time and energy from Twilight2000. And of course all the stuff I ordered for my fallout setting that arrived while I was on vacation.
