Just to inform all that Tiger Miniatures has released the first batch of their figures of Greek and Bulgarian Infantry. These are suitable for the Balkan Wars 1912-1913.
The basic Greek infantry uniform was the same for later conflicts as well, i.e. WW1, Intervention against Bolsheviks in Crimea and Ukraine, the Greek Turkish War 1919-1922 but also can be used deep in the "pulp era" till 1935!

Is the Balkan War Bulgarian uniform different to the Great War one?
I always fancied giving Salonika some kind of a go, being as I am somewhat obsessed with the peripheral theatres...
-
As far as I know there is not much difference.
But do not take my word on it. I am not a Bulgarian Uniform expert.
If you take the time they could not change their uniform from 1913 to a new one in 1914.
So, the only difference I can imagine is that some units at least may had helmets in the later stage of the war. And it is obvious that they had german WWI helmets.

The Osprey on the Balkan Wars would be a start point - Other than actually writing to the company. Loads of nice uniforms if I remember 8)

Sorry I do not know any book by Osprey covering the Balkan Wars.
Which one is it?

Dear Helen,
I have checked the Osprey list and again I cannot find any book on Balkan wars.
If you mean the MAA 356 Armies in the Balkans 1914-1918 unfortunately it has nothing to do with the Balkan Wars.
This is about the WW1 and not about the 1912-1913 first and 2nd Balkan wars.
The 1st Balkan war was fought between the coalition of Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro against Turkey and the 2nd it was a coalition of Greece, Serbia,Montenegro joined later by Romania against Bulgaria.
We had not the privilege to have Austrohungarians for example to fight within the Balkan wars. As far as I know there may be some few german advisors aiding Turkey only.
However I agree on the the other comment that the Osprey book has some nice uniforms to start with.
The balkan wars [1912-1913] was a very interesting conflict the prelude to WW1 that deserves a special book coverage by Osprey.

Yes you are quite right. I was more referring to the fact that it an interesting Sideshow for the Great War. Lets keep this topic within relevants of the Index of WW1 & WW2. Please If you want to continue with the topic you would need to consider changing to a different sub heading! 8)
We can be very passionate about our conflicts 8)
God Bless
