They look splendid. Great job!
-
Actually it means Danish devils. ;)
But it is looking very good. I have been wantig to try out Saga myself it sounds quite good.
-
lol
luckily I haven't tattooed that! that's what you get by trusting subtitle translations! :)
Danish Devils also sounds appropriate! :)
thanks for the comments!

"Danskjävlar" can be translated into both "bastard" and "devils". We use it a lot in our swearing, and it's a curse word that has many meanings, depending on the situation and whatever word you put in front.
Anyways, while the term is old (I'm from Gothenburg after all, and there's a classical apathy against the Danish here due to historical reasons. Some serious, but mostly very unserious), it got legendary status in the Danish series "Riket" by Von Trier. The same series have been redone by Stephen King as "Kingdom Hospital".

(He watches Barsebäck, a Swedish nuclear plant across the bay, and sing the intro to "Änglamarken")
"Thank you, Swedish watch towers
With plutonium we force the Dane into submission
Here Denmark! Shat out from lime and water
And there! Sweden, chiseled out from granite
Danish bastards!
Danish bastards!"
With that out the way, lovely painting :) Any chance for a close-up?

Silver66 is absoultely right. The litteral meaning of djävlar (jävlar) is "devils" but in this contexts "bastards" is much more appropriate. The English do not swear by the devil the way we do any longer, which is odd, since we are supposed to be the more secular people.
-
Excellent looking warband! I'm thinking of getting into Saga myself, although i'll probs start with a Welsh or Anglo-Saxon force, as the Dad has more Vikings then there were Scandinavians during the Dark Age (I'm not even including the sudden influx of Gripping Beasts JomsVikings!)

We tend to use whatever comes up, it gives it all a pinch of flavour. Our occasional of profanity with religious connections is merely habit.

Great work.
With a title like that this tread was bound to be good. ;)

Good looking warband, and as they seem to kill the livestok they are true " Dansk jävlar ! " ;)

now with Valkyries (actually they are the jomsvikings for the saga rules)

I've painted them some while ago, but it was only yesterday that I could take some decent photos of them
the excellent minis are from foundry and hasslefree
-
Haha, thats just great. lol
Ohh and great paintjob, expecially that white tiger.
-
Very nicely done :-*
-
Love your figures.
Very fine painting.
-
Very nice !
-
Great additions to any army! Lovely paint job on all of them.
-
Fantastic stuff, love the Idea for using the Valkyries :-*
-
many thanks for the comments :)
the Valkyries were a happy coincidence... A friend of mine had a couple of foundry vikings for sale and since I'm a sucker for foundry miniatures I proposed a trade, luckily he had a couple of Valkyries in the lot which I bought without thinking
since I already had a large viking force, and wanted to paint the girls I went for the jomsvikings list approach and ordered a couple of hasslefree minis to finish the group! :)
