Been planning on creating some river sections, and so I have been looking at a number of methods to use to create a slight ripple effect on the water.
In a book I have (Games Workshop How to Make Wargames Terrain) it mentions that you could use sheets of plastic, textured to resemble water. The sheets are transparent and often come with a backing sheet. In the picture this stuff is very thin and flexible, its also mentioned that its easy to cut. I'd love to give it a try, and in the book its claimed you can pick it up in most hobby stores, yet I've had no luck in finding it anywhere! Could anybody please point me in the direction of a UK supplier?
Many thanks Marc.

Antenocitis workshop is where I got mine. Great stuff - unfortunately my dad stole most of it for his train layout :-[

Thanks Bobble. I had looked on Antenocitis, but missed it on my first visit. Found it now, its out of stock at the moment so I shall have to wait until they get more in.

Dads! What are they like? :o

Tell me about it! I don't have a single bits box, paint pot or tool that he hasn't raided for his damn train set at some point or another and guess what idiot gets to paint and make half the stuff he buys?

Bobble my father is into his trains too so I know where you're coming from. Stuff of mine goes missing all the time!
I've actually now found that busch, noch and a few other manufacturers make rippled plastic water sheets. You can get them off several 'train hobby' sites! But nobody compares to Antenocitis price, brilliant site, just wish stuff wasn't out of stock so often :( Hope they get more in soon.

If it is available where you are you can use the plastic diffusers that they cover recessed fluorescent lights with. They come in clear per-textured sheets. Here they are only about $10.00 for sheets around 1.5 X 3.0 foot sheets. It would cut down your cost.
Snitchy sends.

Thanks for the suggestion snitcythedog, I'll look into it.

You can also find sheets of acrylic in hardware stores. It's used for shower walls.
