Painted this up yesterday.

More to come!
EDIT: More info on the models and how to get hold of them HERE (http://franks-toybox.blogspot.co.uk/)

Fantastic!! I love the goggles!! 8) 8)
-
Nice paint but thats a given from yourself. The mini is nice too, where is it from?

Seconded, great work, who makes him?
-
I have to agree with Andym, I noticed the goggles the first thing.
Most excellent, I must say.
-
Yesterday? You painted it yesterday !!!
-
Top notch as usual!
-
Thanks chaps. :)
Can't really say much about the model right now but there are a few more to be painted :D

So new mini then from an up and coming, otherwise undisclosed/disclosable range? ;)
-
Thanks chaps. :)

Tease! Interestingly the head is reminiscent of some renders of female, helmeted heads posted recently on a certain company's Facebook page. If I was a betting man.....
I'll have me some of these when they're available. Very nice figure and an excellent, subdued PJ.
-
Dang! Quit stalling who makes em. :P
-
Bit of web trouble at the moment it seems so pics aren't showing and I can't even view my own site! Hopefully it'll be sorted soon. All out of my hands (good old Webs :-[ ).
Patience commissarmoody ;)
-
Could this really be a Defiance Games figure :o ? It looks very sharp for plastic but something about the gun design just has me wondering.
I must admit I am hoping it is a metal figure from a UK company who have produced a full squad of similar troops :)
-
Ohh hells yes. I think these belong in my Lebanon 2082 project :)
I'd put good money on them not being Defiance figs though. Didn't someone just release some nice Drop Troops? I'm thinking its the same company.
-
A couple of WIP shots. One just needs the basing finishing off.

-
Looking very nice - I am waiting (im)patiently to find out who is making these figures!
-
Nice minis!
Excellent paint job! :-*
-
Even unbased they look great.
-
Are those new Pig Iron miniatures?
-
You bloody tease!
Lovely PJ as ever. You should really start doing more tutorials for us to copy ;)
-
Nice paint job. The figure is almost more "alternative present" than "near future".
-
Absolutely drop-dead gorgeous :o
-
Very impressive paint job, as always i might add. :)
And miniatures look quite promising.
-
Are those new Pig Iron miniatures?
Nope :D
You should really start doing more tutorials for us to copy ;)
I really want to do more but I've just not had the time recently. Perhaps with a few changes I can start finding the time again.
The figure is almost more "alternative present" than "near future".
Yup, agree there. I'd love to paint up some of these in faded greens for that 'Nam look, Flecktarn wearing Bundeswehr would work well, as would something deserty like the IDF.
Oh...
Better pics when these are finished off, and thanks for the comments everyone. :)
-
these are so nice! the goggles look amazing!
-
I'm interested, for sure. And your brushwork only makes them more enticing.
-
You know what really has us worried; this line turns into vapourware. 'Sorry, lads, but we just can't get them into production.' Or, worse, silence except for the winds blowing in the desert.
It happens, you know...
Still, really lovely work, and I've not seen your previous painting to cause me to automatically gush. lol
Not sure if it's fair to dare you to do flecktarn at that scale, though. ;)
Doug
-
Bet they're ackula's bsg commission only fleet troops. ;)
-
"I really want to do more but I've just not had the time recently" - give us your colours then!
-
Bet they're ackula's bsg commission only fleet troops. ;)
Possibly... but I think he told me a while back he was going to use some modern troops from Empress/Eureka etc...
-
Bet they're ackula's bsg commission only fleet troops. ;)
Nope, wrong rifle, body armour and webbing. If it were a commission they'd be closer tho the original imagery ;)
At least if they were my commission :P

A while ago Empress Miniatures posted this on the Ambush Alley Forum:
"Well, 2012 will see a new 'faction' added (possibly two) ... but it will be strictly 2012+ in style I'm afraid."
Could it possibly be from them?

The figures are nice enough to be Empress. You may be onto something.
-
Excellent yet again Mr Lead!! I love your painting style

VGC... although I've noticed my current batch of black is a little shiny when it dries but I use Tamiya X-21 Flat Base with most of my paints now so that sorts that out (it makes all those crappy shiny paints like CdA and Foundry usable too!).
-
my my my
that is really really nice
fantastic paint job

Stunning I think I know whose figures these are ;) och aye I do :D

Dammit Karl, you sussed it :o http://franks-toybox.blogspot.co.uk/

Have these got anything to do with an angry Scottish bloke by any chance?
Beautiful paintwork!

The jigs up!

Ta, once more - I'll give it a try. How much flat base do you recommend? Incidentally your inspirational PJ has made the figures irresistible so, now the 'culprit' has been unmasked, I've ordered some...

Just mix a little in. A spot or so. Too much and the paint will have a horrible chalky appearance. You soon get the hang of how much to use.
Look forward to seeing your camo versions then ;)
-
"Look forward to seeing your camo versions then" - haha, you read my mind!
-
Excellent painting, of course. I've been looking for a good opponent to the Grenadier/EM4 Copplestone troopers for quite a while. These look about right.
-
Awesome work as usual SCL...very inspirational. :-*
And I (we) appreciate you being so free with your color choices and sequences.
this is a gaming period I had no interest in...until I saw these excellent figures and your SWEET Pjs!
Cheers,
Blue

First set of four all finished.

-
Wow! Just wow! :-*
-
Those greys, and blacks, lovely work, perfect colour palette for my odst's cheers for sharing.
The commander.
-
Really nice. Both the figs and your stunner of a paint job.
One thing that does bug me about them is their rifles, I'd much prefer they were carrying a bullpup rifle. This one looks a bit too much like an SG 566 to me and looks a little out of place beside the massive support weapon.

Absolutely perfect - going to be a hard act to follow!
-
Nice. I want some. :D
-
Super smooth paintwork, brilliant! :-*

Top work by Richard - you must be very happy with them Frank.

Dead chuffed Matt :-*

I know you too well Frank I remember you a couple of years back lamenting the Copplestone troopers and even hollowing out barrels etc. I did think at one point you may have gone down the Borderland route but thats a long time ago now :D
-
(http://stonecoldlead.webs.com/DSCN4932.JPG)
Just need to do the rocket launcher guy from this set.
-
Excellent painting, of course. I've been looking for a good opponent to the Grenadier/EM4 Copplestone troopers for quite a while. These look about right.
And with that comment in mind. Are there any comparison pics anywhere with different models? Copplestone being one of the ones.
And these models do look damn nice. Crisp and clean. And the paint scheme just makes em look fantab. Cant wait to see the RL guy when he is done. :-)

Of course there is one. I knew as soon as i asked the question and hit "post" that this was going to be the response. I hadn't had a chance yet to hit the blog. Serves me right.
But the comparison shot looks good to me. I would think not an issue there for anyone. :-)

When I receive mine, I'll do a comparison with some Heresy Troopers :D
-
I so got to get some of these!!!!! Just unclear on how...one just e-mails the site owner and places an order?

Sent him a mail, got a quick response, afterwards an paypal invoice and am waiting now for the minis to come :)
Everything went fast and easy so far

An email; a paypal payment; a delivery within a couple of days! Excellent!

Just drop me an e-mail, tell me how many packs you want and where you are in the world, so I can calculate postage.
I will make up your order, weight it and send you a Paypal invoice.
Pay the invoice and I will send the troops.
Simples ;)

What can I say? Lovely as ever, Stoney :-*
Damn. I shouldn't really be watching this bloody thread, or else I might want to do something with these minis...
-
Stunning as always!!
-
These look fantastic! I love the paint job and the figures. Together they make a beautiful combination.
-
I've received mine today (just 4 days from order to delivery in Portugal) and they are really great! :o
Clean casts, great poses - best near future troopers in the market right now (IMHO). I can only hope to see this line expand with more sculpts!
-
I dont think you will beat Frank on sales and trunaround, he is a true gamer and like us all wants the lead in his hand the moment he pushes the buy button, so knows what customers are after too :D
-
Next set of four done.

So Frank how many in the set?
You haven't even looked at the blog have you? ::)
-
To be fair, it took me a good 7 seconds to find the info :)

FT2 - Fire Team 1 with Assault Rifles
FT3 - Fire Team 2 with Assault Rifles
FT4 - 3 x Assault Rifles, 1 x Squad Support Weapon

-
You haven't even looked at the blog have you? ::)
It was all in Scottish so I gave up ;).
All sounds good, will have to get a reasonable selection from you after the weekend.
Anyway, where's the one in the future modern Kevlar I-kilt?

Those are wonderful minis and quite possibly the best PJ I have seen on "soldier" figs. The only thing that puts me off is that in the US Army a blue stripe on ordinance usually signifies "training" meaning not-live ammo. Small point I know, just sharing.
-
But they are not U.S. they are British ;)
-
But they are not U.S. they are British ;)
And it's the future. ;)
-
Pity you will not sell to Aussies as those would of made nice corp proxie figs for warpath.
Payment by paypal only, postage at cost, to anywhere in the world.
What have you done to upset him? ;)
-
Pity you will not sell to Aussies as those would of made nice corp proxie figs for warpath.
Maybe you shouldn't put so much faith in what the Cardinal has to say and think for yourself ;)
Try dropping me an e-mail and dealing with me one to one, instead of listening to second hand gossip :o
-
Hmm, I'm having significant troubles not jumping back into 28mm thanks to these.
I mean, half a dozen packs and I've got a platoon for Stargrunt or Tomorrow's War. Oh, and of course they'll need some transport. Oooh, and armour support. I suppose some air support will be useful too. And possibly some power armour, just a squad. Or a platoon...
See my problem?
-
Is it you who has just placed an order last night?
Or would that be some other Aussie? :o
-
Some other chap. Could be the cardinal.... lol
I just burned through $150 on minis last weekend so it will be a while before I need more retail therapy.
So, the "Pity you don't sell to Aussies" was just a cheap shot then?
Well, it takes all sorts I suppose. ::)
-
I agree :-I
-
Maybe some gasmasked/masked guys? :D
-
I agree :-I
Anyway, in other news, had chance to send my invoice through Frank?
Ta
The commander.
-
About 2 hours ago mucker ;)
-
Never saw the invoice but all paid up mate. Cheers. :)
-
They'll be in the post tomorrow matey ;)
-
I think it was some other chap who wanted your historicals and you said no because you thought he might be buying them for this mysterious cardinal fellow who seems to be in your black book of scottish doom.
I think I may have had a run-in with that Cardinal.
Thoroughly unpleasant fellow.
-
Did some one say Quar???? :-*
-
Just a rough photo for now of another set of four.
I'm already seeing conversion potential for some of these models. Maybe something for a little jaunt through Pripyat and onto the Wish Granter?
-
What a wonderful example of consistently high quality painting!

The next thing I paint will NOT be grey. lol

Yep, I'm so close to folding. Definitely getting an Israeli vibe from them... Lebanon 2082 looks to be a 28mm project. Sorry 20mm :(

You did a wonderfully realistic job painting those! 8)
-
Such awesome paintjob and cool figures, well done!
-
Splendid paintjob. Love the minis :-*
-
Just got my four sets of these in the mail, and I have to say, they are on par with Hasslefree in terms of sculpting. Flash free and with crisp detail, they are just fantastic! Thanks for making them available, Frank, and thanks SCL for the inspiring paint jobs.
