Doesn't seem like too long ago that figures of merchant seamen were as rare as rocking-horse shit. Now you can't move for the bloody things!

Funny! *That* expression I will certainly add to my vocab. My, it alomst !orks in Swedish too: "Sällsynt som gunghästskit"

Those merchant marines are MINE. And all miniatures in bowler hats are per definition the $h!t.

Speaking of merchant sailors - does anyone have a suggestion for a Captain Haddock lookalike?

The most commonly used one, most recently the great Matakishi,  is a Brigade.  Stay tuned for another version...

Hmm. I wonder how difficult it would be to remove that Tommy-gun without ruining the figure?

I'm not too good at that kind of thing.

Not too difficult, but it will probably involve Greenstuff to clean up the area involved. I am happy to volunteer my services if you would like it done.( I am reasonably competent with this kind of operation) :)

Speaking of which, I tried your idea switching the Brens for Lewis gun on my Regiment British Navy minis. Tricker than I thought and I will have to redo it. The barrel came out to narrow and long.

I quickly gave up on the whole Bren-to-Lewis thing when I found it to be beyond my skills and all I had to show for it was two ruined figures.

Malamute, that's awful kind of you. I will probably take you up on that offer, but at some indistinct point in the future, as right now I have no immediate need for an Archibald Haddock (it's just something I'd like to have) and I'm trying to stay focussed on the two projects I'm currently working on. I'm finding it a little hard, as I need to paint a bunch of rank and file types and I'm bored with them. Fun one-off figures do not help me stay on track (I already have several on the workbench as it is).  :)

Thanks, we'll talk about it some time later.

I think he'll do :-)  I may have to order two to have one to remove the weapons from, though.....
