Heave Ho me Hearties
My friend has been building pirate ships which he is madly putting the finishing touches to before putting the up for sale.
These are designed specifically to fit with the Games Workshop Legends of the High Seas, from the lowly ships boat to a Brig, following your campaigns and rise to infamy
There will be four in total and they are cast in a brown resin
The rowing boat/whaler which is 5" x 2 1/4"
The pinnace which is 9" x 3"
The Sloop which is 12" x 3 3/4"
The Brig is which is 14" x 4 1/4"
Whaler and Pinnace

The Rowing Boat and Pinnace are finished while the brig is pretty much finished - it just needs cleaning up and getting ready for making the mold.
Sloop
(http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u94/Lowtardog/sloopsm.jpg)
The sloop needs a little more work - the 'planking' is only partly applied and the gunports need adding before they are ready for molding. It is hoped the brig will be done on the weekend and the sloop as soon as poss after that.
Brig

At the moment they have not been costed out but the current thinking is:
Brig - £25
Sloop - £20
Pinnace - £12.50
Whaler - £5
The first three would include the bits of dowel to make the masts /
spars / jib
Once they are on his website I will let interested parties know

I'll be very interested to see how this turns out, I rather like that pricing. I don't play LotHS but they'll be perfect for UBF too.
-
Thats what I thought, they are resin too, the second and third photos are masters which are being finihsed e.g. planking etc before going for molding this weekend
-
Those are nice, any chance they will be for sale over here in the states? Knowing the author  I think he would love to see some of those models over here on his table.

Count me in Karl, I am interested. :)

At the minute (Lewis) is casting and making molds. He has knoicked up a quick web page. I think they should sell well as they are very reasonably priced

Tim drop him a line, there is a link on the above page. I havent even got my gruby hands on them yet. I suppose the weight of thew resin would be a factor for overseas sales
-
at £25 i'd be inclined to buy instead of building my own :P
-
They are nicely priced and nice looking, too.
The pinnacle actually intrigues me the most, but that is a fine looking brig.

True, but this would be a factor in buying ships from any other company as well. I for one won't find cheap pirate ships in the domestic market.

The pinnacle in this case would be the top of the tallest mast, wouldn't it? :P

Agreed I think the pinnace could be used for a number of periods including colonial. I havent seen them in my hand but looking at the picture it could easily be a steam or motor launch
-
Local maritime vernacular uses "pinnacle" interchangably with "pinnace". Seriously. Of course, local maritime vernacular also calls small, fast, elegant twin-masted ketches "log canoes" so perhaps the Chesapeake is not entirely precise with its maritime vernacular.
-
Very nice pricing, indeed.... Might be worth it instead of building (even with the postage applied..).

The Website has been updated with more detail
http://minimi.co.uk/pirates/index.htm
And Minimi seem to have truly been bitten by the bugand are already working on additions :D
A master for a small sloop has been made by changing the Pinnace Master around so it has a jib and mast along with a new deck arrangment.
Postage costs will appear on the site tomorrow night.
They are now looking at making a Junk and making some masters for cannon. Maybe a Jetty and stuff like Casks, Treasure Chest and other bits and bobs -
Andy did the masters for the Panzer 1 and 2 (their 20mm range) for me and also painted the Whaler and pinnace.
so keep your eyes peeled

I take it you are on a percentage? Quite a nifty sales pitch you have there
You're right, though. Very reasonable priced, good-looking models. The pinnace would indeed be ideal for a jaunt up the jungle with a few trusty askaris.
I could never find the time to build any of these, but at the proposed price, buying is certainly attractive and I do need some for LOTHS :D
Who's this "TJSKI", by the way

 well I talked some lads into castig them up, One of my mates is good at scratch building whilst the other runs a small company producing 20mm resin vehicles for WW2. So I talked them into the priates via Legends of the old West, linking to figure ranges etc  then Martin started building a small ship so I said why not...and it spiralled from there. I hope I get a freebie :) from this but really it is more a case of I am on quite a few forums where as they dont seem to, not to post anyway so I said I would pimp them for them :)
They aren`t works of art or design but they should work well for skirmish games and the like and I thnk keeping the price reasonable is a boone. It also makes good sense for what is a home based part tiue business to branch out as not every show they attend will have lots of people buying tanks and aroured vehicles, so something different spreads the risk and costs
-
I'm just collating orders from the interested parties at my gaming club - once I know how many they want, orders will be placed...

I'm really liking those postage costs as well! When ordering big stuff like ships and scenery, one is always afraid the postage will end up costing more than the product itself. I hope postage for the sloop won't jump the trend.

Lewis is sticking straight with the Post office calculator so hopefully the only difference will depend on weight
