I've been working on a few units of Great War Cavalry lately...

I have some mounted Australian Light Horse on the workbench. Here are some dismounted ones I did a few weeks back:

Really nice work 8)

Lovely brushwork Tim.
It's a great pity Brigade Games never completed the range with suitable dismounted light horse. The ones in their range are all wearing infantry equipment. The only decent one out there are Ian Mountain sculpts and alas they are tiny in comparison to the Brigade and Copplestone figures I have.

Lovely work Tim, well done.
Cheers,
Helen

Great looking figures.
Really like the French horse.

Thanks all!
Here are the Australian Lighthorsemen I alluded to:

Great group of miniatures!
Particular like the Aussies and especially the MG team.
-
Very nice, indeed!
-
Thanks guys! They were fun to paint, and i have another unit of the ALH to do, but I think it's time to work on some more infantry!
-
Those French are absolutely gorgeous. Do they have suitable dismounts?

Those French are absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks!
Do they have suitable dismounts?
Not that I'm aware of.

Continuing with some more Great War Cavalry...

Some German Hussars!

A few more sample figures I painted up... remainder of unit to follow!

Same chaps, different angle. They seem fairly comparable to me.

The Great War Miniatures French Dragoon and a Renegade French Chasseurs a Cheval I painted earlier.

The Renegade horses are noticeably larger. Not that that would stop me from using them in the same army/game... perhaps not within the same unit, though...

Nice work Tim on the Dragoons.
Cheers,
Helen

Thanks Helen!
Here's a few more:

These are Old Glory late war British that I am using as Canadian Light Horse.

How is one to know they are Canadian Light Horse, you might be wondering...?
That clever little coloured patch on their shoulder straps - barely visible on a few of the figures...
Up next...?
Brigade Games Indians, perhpaps?
That, or the German Dragoons...
After I finish up those units (and maybe the GWM French Dragoons) I'll post some comparison of the different manufacturers.

Top work Tim.
Cheers,
Helen

We're watching Downton Abbey and just finished season one. I stumbled across that one as I was looking for the Dowager Countess of Grantham singing this one...
