I've long admired OG's ships & buildings, but the price.......:o
I'm sure they are value for money, but I just can't afford them
-
My thought too, just TOO expensive...
:(
-
Those prices are abhorrent - especially when compared to the resin ships shown in another thread...
-
I too think they are probably value for money but with the addition of any postage, let alone on something big and heavy, they do indeed become too expensive
-
These are that foam stuff that Hudson and Allen use for their buildings, so not too heavy at all.

I think they aren`t too bad for big ships and the foam should make them fairly light. I was lucky enough to be bought the 40 gun Man o War now that is a heavy beast I need a jib and boom to move the bugger and when I saw the price I nearly cried...but my Missus got it for me  so didnt protest too much :D

:?: Does anybody know why the postage is sooooooo ridicously HIGH!?
Is that a US thing? Or don't they wanna sell to us poor people outside the US?
I wanted to order something from Dwarven Forge and they are even worse!
It is never that bad when I order stuff from Europe!? :?: :?: :?:

Not sure unless it is due to the size putting it in a different postage category, normally it is cheaper to ship form the US to UK than from blighty to the US, but I see what you mean

I think it's a US Post thing.
I tried to buy a couple of NFL replica shirts from the USA - the initial price was vey reasonable, but the shipping costs virtually doubled this. Bizarre for some lightweight fabric items.
It puzzles me however, that some sellers [eg Brigade Games & The Virtual Armchair General] can send out metal figures & books for very reasonable shipping rates to the UK. Also, I have bought figures etc from Aussie sellers - all for equally acceptable rates :?:
Maybe its just greed on the part of some retailers. :(

I suppose we can expect Old Glory UK to start stocking the ships sometime. The problem is that they like to jack up the prices while they're at it. They've said on numerous occasions that they're going to keep doing it and don't care what we think about it :(

They tend to charge 1: dollar to pound so will be expensive, no doubt to recoup import costs as they cant have the gear to make these babies themselves

But it sort of kills the purpose of having a European distributor, doesn't it?

I suppose so but in his defence he has to recoup his costs and make a living. I think he has the figures cast in the UK, though the 40mm are imported fomr what a mate who buys them told me

I looked at those new ships at Cold Wars and they are very nice. They do seem pricey, but one thing to keep in mind is that they come with all necessary guns and fighting tops. If you were to count the cost of equipping some of the other offerings it more or less evens out (if you 're in the US at least).
I still have their old brigantine in the box, so I'm not letting myself buy a new ship until that one is done. The new frigate really had me salivating though.
