Title: Night of the Living Dorrits
Post by: Skrapwelder on 28 August 2012, 05:34:14 AM
This weekend I'll be running a small Empire of the Dead tournament at a Bay Area Convention. I've taken my ideas for factions loosely from the Dickens book: Little Dorrit. A lot of the figures I'll be using have already been shown here but here are a few of the things I've done specifically for this game.

Some figures I've painted for an upcoming convention. I'll be hosting a small Empire of the Dead tournament.

Representing the firm of Doyce and Clennam are Mr Arthur Clennam and Senor Cavaletto.
Doyce and Clennam represents a Gentleman's Club of no particular affiliation.

Also from D&C a pair of the firms engineers.

Mr Clarence Barnacle of the Circumlocution Office. The Circumlocution Office is also a Gentleman's club with a Sons of the Empire affiliation.

Mr John Chivery and one of the Warders of the Marshalsea Deadders Prison. The Warders are a Holy Order.

Mrs Clennam of the House of Clennam. The House of Clennam is an overseas trading company. For the purposes of the game they are representing a Gentleman's club with the Darkfire Club affiliation.

Some of the Chinese laborers in the employ of the House of Clennam.

Thanks for looking. I'll hopefully get plenty of pictures from the game to post here next week.

Really nice theme to your models. Will there be any battle report pics to come?

Really nice stuff.  :-*

Did you manage to get some pics of the game at Celesticon?

The convention turned out to be rather disappointing as far as the game went. I had no sign ups by the time I was supposed to run it. A few friends had come along to watch or get a game in if there was space so I did have some players. I set up about half the terrain I had planned to and ran a brace of games for the four player.

Feedback on the table scenery and the game all came back very positive so I was encouraged by that. On Sunday we played some pickup games across town at the other convention and that went well too.

I got a few snaps of the convention games which I will try to post this afternoon.

Sorry about the poor Celesticon show ups.
It seems like every time there's a wargame convention around here, work decides they need me to work like a dog.
I would have liked to have seen your minis and terrain in person.  :'(

I'm looking forward to seeing some pics though!

Okay. Celesticon pictures first. I took mostly long shots while play went on. My opinion of Lycaons has not changed. I have yet to see the Werewolves lose a fight early in a campaign. They are very powerful as a starting force. I think they plateau early but are still one of the strongest factions in the game.

On Sunday I went over to Pacificon and set up a table to play some pick up games with friends. We built 150 point factions with an additional 50 points to add skills or just strengthen the base force.

I went with a very well equipped Gentleman's Club with the Zenda affiliation and geared it expressly for fighting the Supernaturals. Silver spear for my President and silver ammunition for about half the models. It worked fairly well against the Nosferatu in the Blissful Ignorance scenario where you get points for rescuing/harvesting unwitting civilians.

these are my friend John Sullin's Nosferatu. Some nice older model's he excavated and painted. I can't rcall the name of the manufacturer but there was a really nice hunchback in the lot.

There you go. Thanks for looking. Our next effort is a pseudo campaign to run us up to Halloween. We'll be trying out some multi faction sided games for four or even six players.

Very nice as always Skrapwelder. Thank you for posting the pics.

It's interesting that the Lycans keep cleaning up. There's a few wide open areas of the board that you would think would benefit more "shooty" factions like the Gentleman's Club.

Lovely, I must get my ass up to Sac one of these days and see your models and terrain in person.  :D
