I have plans for one of these :D
-
So cool I'm almost willing to excuse the disastrous misuse of apostrophes.
Were armed motorcycles used much by the British during WW1?
-
Excellent model's, Ill have to get s'ome just co's I like old Motor Bike's lol
-
Must admit, no use for one but I doubt I will resist
-
They were used in the early stages of WW1 and in Russia.
plus they were used in the middle east which i have seen pictures.
plus they can be used for RCW
India as well in the 1920's

I'm not. I refuse to buy these until such time as they correct their punctuation. :)
They saw widespread but limited use. For obvious reasons, the Western Front didn't provide optimal conditions for the use of motorcycles, save for behind the lines use by despatch riders. There was some use of the MG armed versions by the Motor Machine Gun Corps but usually in a dismounted role. The best reference I can think of is David Fletcher's War Cars which has a chapter devoted to motorcycles and some good photographs.

I think there's a slight issue with the size of these, given how you should be shorter when mounted than standing.

Oooh!

Apologies for the incorrect punctuation. I can pass the blame to the graphic art department :D

The Greengrocer's Apo'strophe ha's a long and honourable hi'story.
Al'so, very nice motorcycle's, good to 'see some in 28mm!

Damn tricky to build motorcycles to scale. Endless debate whether 1/48th or 1/56th scale is better for 28mm wargames (a tank is big, right? but how big?) however, most everyone has some idea how big a motorcycle is relative to human size. I agree with 6milphil - these look pretty big.
-
they are 28mm so go with my copplestone etc :D

Just received mine from 1st Corps (all three ) and have to say they are VERY nice models. They are a bit big but have loads of character and I shall have fun painting them.
On another note I also received their Minerva Armoured Car............WOW!!!! It is a stunning little model. I don't know if it's standard practice with 1st Corps but the Minerva came completely assembled with absolutely no cleaning (flash etc) required!!!
First time I've ordered of them and I am really impressed.

Can see the VBCW mob will enjoy these a lot too and would like to see some with steel helmets on but a quick head swop should sort that out :)

I am pleased to say we have added these models to our online store here as well
http://scarabminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=5_22
We also stock the Minerva, Romwell and lots of other WW1 models.
We are about to add the Woodbine and Musketeer ranges in the next couple of weeks (lots of packs!), so if anyone requires anything from those ranges in the short term, let us know via email.

Excellent
Any chance you could give me some pointers on how the m/c sidecar mg combo goes together please?
Emailed 1st Corps....no reply....
-
What bits are you having problems with?
I have not assembled one yet, but looking at the picture on page one here, and then looking at the components and holding them together, it seems OK. Just have to line the bits up when glueing (and avoid fingers) and clip/bend the pipe for the watercooled MG before sticking.
Might be best to stick the motorbike to a base first, then stick wheel to sidecar, then sidecar to motorbike

That despatch rider is a definite purchase at some point. I resisted the Minerva at last year's Salute as the queue was too long and my feet were aching.......next year methinks :)
