Two orangutans, two jokaeros and a brain on a robot body.
I posted this in some Black Cat thread too, but I think it is probably more Future Wars after all.

Let me break the spell of the Future Wars board and reply to this:
AWESOME! :D
I really like the photo set up too. An improvement over your earlier set ups if I may be so bold.
-
Yeah, the photo ended up looking ok, I think I just got lucky, I am not doing much different than usual.
-
Who does the one with the gun?
-
The to on the left with guns are from Sgt Major miniatures, from their Get Some! sci-fi line. I was told they would do more poses in 2013, but everybody is welcome to bug them about it, so they don't forget :D
-
Really good job on the hair! May I ask the recipe?
-
I have not done them all 100% the same way. But something like this:
Fur:
Basecoat of GW vermin brown.
Drybrush with some looooong oop GW orange (the label has fallen off), but I think any bright orange will do.
Wash with ogryn flesh and/or seepia wash.
Orange drybrush again.
When doing the face and hands I have started out with GW dark flesh.
Highlight of GW vermin brown.
Devlan mud wash.
Highlight GW vermin brown.
On the one on the right I accientally basecoated the fur dark flesh instead of vermin brown and I probably messed up on some of the steps on the others too. + all these paints are oop now, but it should not be hard to find alternatives from other manufactures.
Currently I am not buying anymore GW paint at all and each time I run out of a colour I either find another brand that does the same or learn to live without it.
-
Nice one, you've just made me realise where I messed up with attempts to paint ginger hair; basecoating with red rather than brown! Thanks for the recipe.
-
Yeah, the vermin brown colour is a great colour for that, it is a nice warm redish brown.
It is one of the few GW colours where I haven't bothered to search for a substitute yet, since I have 2 extra pots I bought on sale. But I wouldn't think it should be hard to find a similar brown with a red hue, maybe some terracotta coloured brown would work well.

Love the brain suit! Such a cool miniature that you've done a great service. I like the Orangutangs too, but the Brain suit is what really interests me.
-
A man after my own heart! Here's my version of two of the minis in your (very cool) picture).

@Michka: Thanks, I was thinking it maybe should have been another colour than red, since the brain is red, but maybe it works out ok after all.
@Andy H: Your models is very nice done, the scrolls gives the brain an instant 40K feel (in a good way).

nice collection!! I presume you know about other urang-utans by Reaper, Superfigs, Mongoose and various discworld Librarians?
-
Yes, but I don't really like those, but maybe they get a place here in the future anyway... who knows...
But thanks for the heads up :)
-
Brilliant!
-
They're great! :)

Thanks :)
