Title: Super Dungeon Explore final thoughts
Post by: Anatoli on September 07, 2012, 11:23:49 AM
I got to play a full session last weekend, and I have to say that the initial "wow" factor faded rather quickly once I started to play. It's really weird and a bit of a waste, the game looks great and it has a lot of very good ideas. At the same time there are no quests, no purpose, and things are always happening in the same order and each game seem to be identical - with the exception of what heroes you use.

I wrote my final thoughts about the game, and discuss some of its problems on my blog. In short, I still think this is a great game that can be used as a portal to attract younger gamers into boardgaming - but I'm not sure it has the lasting appeal for a grownup person. And I certainly can't see any reason why someone would like to play two games in a row either, as that would be like doing the exact same thing all over again - literally.

Interesting... I'm still mesmerized by the shiny components myself, but I take your point about repeated game play being boring. I don't know if the forthcoming expansions deal with any of your game play concerns (or if they just include more shiny new components).
