Not too long ago I painted up these Russians to play the role of Civil War Anarchists under Nestor Makhno. Unfortunately I moved away from the buddy that I had planned to skirmish with... he had some red Soviets that were going to be responsible for arresting my poor communists! In any case, more pictures are available in my Russian Civil War gallery:

Very nice. I love the subdued, earthy tones.

Nice work. Gorgeous figure!
Painting at the highest level.
Here are just a red cap - it's too much ;)
This peasant took it from some hussar?
-
Great work on those!
-
Now that is some gorgeous brushwork right there! Do you have any plans on expanding the force?
-
Very nice. As already said great choice of colours, with the possible exception of the red cap as Cuprum noticed, they look splendid.
Much more contrast with your highlights than I would dare myself but I think I need to try it

Anarchist always get my vote ;)
Lovely work

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, I appreciate it.
I do intend to expand this force. I have a handful of deserters who deserted right along with their machine guns, and they'll add some fire power to the group. I have to roughen them up a bit though since they are very well turned out Czarist soldiers at the moment :)
Tnanks again,

Those are brilliant
What figures are they?
-
If they're anarchists, how come they're all facing the same direction!

They're the Copplestone Castings Russian partisans set.

How does Copplestone compare size-wise with Artizan? In Artizan's WW II Partisan's line, there are two sets of eastern front partisans with Mosin-Nagant rifles - I plan on using them to fight Freikorps in actions in the Baltic region, and wondered if I could mix in some Copplestone for variety (as if some are Latvian Townsmen, some in ex-Imperial Russian uniform, etc).

Artizan figures are a bit slenderer than Copplestone, but close enough to the same height that you should be just fine using them together. If I have time tomorrow evening I'll look through my photos, I'm fairly sure I've got some pictures of my Copplestone & Artizan pulp figures together.

Thanks guys for the positive feedback on these, appreciated!
In regards to the red hat, I think it's plausible, there were plenty of red hats going around back then ;)
Reenactors are always perfectly historically accurate, right?!? ;)

I did not comment them one year ago (perhaps I was jealous? :D ) but they are really nice.

the painting is classy, but I cannot but love the sublime colour palette, especially the red hat.
I could be led into assuming that You color-inked over a very hard highlighted low chroma?

No, but that is a cool idea! It's done with pure highlighting.
Thanks

Yes, very nice painting on some great minis.
I'm looking for some figures that I can use for militia troops in RCW/BoB settings and these look excellent for the job.
