These would be terrific units in an interwar game, if any miniature company ever made anything like them. Or even in a Very British Civil War game, as a German polizei unit brought over to help their British police colleagues.

Just the thing for a jolly police officers' away day.....

Indeed. Everyone loves a day trip to the seaside in a charabanc. I can just see them rolling up their trousers, knotting their handkerchiefs and dining on winkles. Tuppeny ice anyone?
The head of Berlin's Homicide squad in the Weimar period was an imposing fellow who weighed in at around 20 stone. He had a specially sprung 6 wheeler sedan which had a mini crime lab set up in the boot.

Just recalled his name, it was Ernst Gennat. Would love to see what the car looked like. Weimar Berlin has always struck me as such a wonderfully exotic location.

I haven't found a picture of Gennat's 'mordauto' in any of my books. It was a Daimler Benz, according to my Google-foo.
Gennat was a pretty scary looking guy! http://www.maerkischeallgemeine.de/cms/beitrag/10507202/2706882/Kriminalrat-war-spezialisiert-auf-Mord-Gennat-Ernst-Suedwestkirchhof.html

No Jürgen, you made the brmm brmm sound the last time, this time it's Wolfie's turn. You can make the siren sound if you like.

Oh man, and I thought Texas was a police state! :o

Inspiring photos! If just anyone would produce some German police miniatures.... :'(
