So, I really really love the old Hrothyogg, Ogre Captain figure (http://stonecoldlead.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=124493852) (picture from StoneColdLead's site, which is much better than the old Solegends pics or similar).
He'd be absolutely spot-on perfect for a figure I want to do up, a general for a large mercenary army of old Bob Olley figures, mostly the old Ral Partha 32mm line of long-nosed trolls (http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/fantasy-armies-trolls-c-37_39_53.html) and ogres (http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/fantasy-armies-ogres-c-37_39_49.html) (I am already using all but a few of these guys, including most of the leader-type guys as unit commanders).
Hrothyogg's got just the right kit I'm looking for (a clear upgrade on the trolls/ogres but not a dramatic one), the right kind of old-time ogre/orc face, and he has this perfect sort of relaxed confident dignity in both pose and expression that is a must for the character. He's just so full of character and just the right kind. The only problem is that he's quite a big fellow! Apparently, he's 45mm or a bit bigger (depending on who I ask) which is just too far off from the Bob Olley bunch.
Are there perhaps any other old Bob Olley or Jes Goodwin (or another sculptor) figures that are similar but smaller in scale? Maybe a different old Citadel figure? He could be a little bigger than the Ral Partha mins, just not so huge.
Thanks!

Personally I'd say there was quite a world of difference between the Jes sculpts and the Olley ones but within my own collection those Ral Partha trolls are the same size if not taller than the Jes Ogres, the Ogres are just bulkier.
There are a couple of 80's Olley Ogres in the citadel line but they are more Barbaric and way chunkier than the Ral Partha ones.
Have you considered the Other World Ogers the Chieftain may just fit in with what you have though its a fair bit different to your initial requirements.

Another option may be Folio works/Alternative armies Ogres made for Fantasy Warlord still available if you phone them up. There are ones by Olley:

(these are from Kennington Miniatures)
And one that looks a bit like Hrothyogg Though darned if I can find a picture at the moment.

The Other World Ogre Chieftain is a bit too primitive looking to be a mercenary captain or general.
But you say the Bob Olley trolls and Jes Goodwn Ogres are actually close in size? o_o
I wonder if anyone here has some of those Bob Olley trolls AND a Hrothyogg and would be willing to take a picture of them next to each other?

Can't help w a scale pic, but this fellow is the 2nd ed. Golgfag from the Regiment:

He is both shorter and more slim in build than Hrothyogg. I could do a scale pic of those 2 if that would help?

That one doesn't have quite the commander's presence ole' Hrothyogg does, though I do appreciate the photo offer.
Maybe I'll just try and get Hrothy and see if he works. I've been looking at my Bob Olley boys and they're a bit bigger in the hand than I'd recalled. MIGHT just work out.

Everybody should have a Hrothyogg regardless of whether they have a use for him. ;)

Argh, Fram you !"#€... I was unaware of these Olley trolls. Some would work great in my 1980s Olley chaos warband, which is allready twice the size it "needs" to be. =)

Don't I know it! Really this leader should be a captain, but you'll notice I also referred to him as a general. Too many fantastic trolls. At least theose old Ral Partha sculpts are cheap!
@Stone-cold-lead: I doubt I'll be sad to have him even if he's totally out of scale. ;)
