Title: The Dalek Invasion of Practically Everywhere
Post by: Froggy the Great on 25 September 2012, 04:26:32 PM
Figures were freebies with the Doctor Who Adventures magazine in the UK.  I painted them according to the New Paradigm Daleks in the 2010 season of Doctor Who.

Supreme = White
Eternals = Yellow
Scientist = Orange
Strategist = Blue
Drone = Red
Special Weapons Dalek: Grey
Davros = Davros
Davros's cat = Davros's cat.

Command:  Supreme, Eternal, Davros, Cat.
Tactical Squad:  Strategist, 3x Drones
Specialist Squad:  Tactical squad + Scientist or Special Weapons Dalek.

Now - Anyone have any wargames rule sets that'll let me field the entire force of 45 Daleks at once, and be done with the game in about four hours?

Have your eyes recovered yet from painting all those Dalek bumps?

Fast and Dirty or a 40k modification would be pretty good for a quick game. Great force by the way.

They are free gifts given away from time to time with issues of Doctor Who Adventures, a UK children's magazine (plus Froggy's conversions).  So ebay or other on-line sales are your best bet.

With 45 Daleks, I'd be afraid that the battles would be over a lot faster than 4 hours! lol

Beautiful collection, and I can't wait to see the Opposing Forces.

Davros has a cat???

Exactly my reaction. Course, Dave had me with 'All the best villains have a cat.  Ernst Blofeld, Davros, my mother-in-law...   :D '

Used to be a feline fancier myself.  lol

Did I mention awesome work, Frog my man?

Thank you all!
The first ten I did last year took way too bloody long.  This time I did basecoat/highlight/drybrush, black/grey parts, drybrush.

Davros has a cat???
Apparently so.

Really nice! Made me smile
Whats the cat called?
No idea, but it really does exterminate the mice.

I won't say I'm eager to paint another 45 (though if someone can source 45 of the Time War style Daleks I'll open negotiations), but I'd say yes they have.  The mindset of "There's 45 of them - nobody will notice if I'm sloppy" helped a lot.

You can imagine that Gold dalek gets really annoyed when Davros asks him to feed the cat. "Ti-ddles! Ti-ddles!" How does he use the tin opener?

Love the collection though. Great work.

...How does he use the tin opener?...

Doesn't, of course. It's their greatest fear!  :D

 :D Why has no-one just taken a giant tin opener to the daleks before? Mind you if it was anything like my one it would take an arm off with no visible damage to the dalek/tin.

In the Big Finish audios the 7th Doc's assistant Ace acquired a tin opener like tool for prising open Daleks.

Absalom Daak: Dalek Killer used a chain sword way before those silly Space Jar-Heads. That would be a really good can opener.

Great as usual Froggy. I can't recommend FUBAR enough.  I have a fair few Daleks myself and pit them against my sons' space marines.  They love it.  Games go 2-4 hours.

What FUBAR stats do you use for them?
