Title: Need help finding interior 28mm office furniture and equipment
Post by: scoilt on September 26, 2012, 06:34:46 PM
I’m trying to recreate Tex Murphy’s office from “Under a Killing Moon” and I need to find some office equipment and furniture that ranges from 1930-1990 in style.

I’ve used Mega-Miniatures’ office set for the desk, desk chair, computer, and filing cabinet. I’m using Reaper’s Max Decker for Tex Murphy, and building the office in foam board and Hirst-Arts pours.

I need armchairs, circa 1990’s fax and office phone, desk lamp, water cooler, and a cot.
My craft and sculpting skills are passable (for instance, the cot and fax machine wouldn’t be too hard to create), but I’d prefer minis if I can find them.

Through scouring around, I’ve managed to come across:
Armchairs:

Water Cooler:
http://ainstycastings.co.uk/product_info.php/cPath/52/products_id/599/osCsid/7f1c4d026e6aef637cb02b1b7aba5e1a

Are there any sites that have a bit more variety – I’d love to find one that has some “good enough” minis all in one spot since I’m cheap and would like to not be paying three times the cost of the mini in shipping numerous times over. I’d also like to stick with resin or metal as opposed to dollhouse furniture to keep the paint and material style.

Any links would be greatly appreciated.

I saw the Eureka sets. The seated figures and phones have empty phone cradles (though I could make that work) and the modern office furniture set is $35 - of which I'd only need one desk phone, so that's out.

Thanks for the quick suggestions...

I've trolled through
http://www.frontlinewargaming.co.uk/
And couldn't find anything that seemed to fit into modern office, or even modern living room styles - though I'm probably going to be getting some of their things for a different project...

Try www.worldworksgames.com (http://www.worldworksgames.com) they have card buildings and interiors
also try
www.thevirtualarmchairgeneral.com (http://www.thevirtualarmchairgeneral.com) they also have card interiors including a detective office
Also try a model railroad store you would be looking for S scale furniture, if you have trouble with that let me know and I can try looking it up in an S scale catalog.

Pardulon has armchairs and a sofa that might help.

I made a few items from scratch tonight - water cooler, fax machine, video phone, picture frame, and a desk lamp - I'll see how they paint up and maybe give it another try if they don't work out, before putting in some orders. I think I'm going with the Pardulon armchairs though...
Thanks for the additional links.

Managed to go with the plaster cravings for the office equipment - while it wasn't the best looking, it fit pretty well with the Mega-Miniatures office computer. The figure had the top of his head removed to replace a sixties style hat with a hat that's closer to the fedora I wanted.
Ordered two arm chairs from Pardulon - after those arrive, I just need to fill the office with some chatskis - posters, pictures, hutch, and the like...

Looking good! The Tex Murphy miniature with the Fedora hat is nice too  :)

A little sloppy on the frames, but okay for now... Just foot prints and the actual miniature figure left...

There's a few pieces of furniture in our  range at http://www.fenrisgames.com/shop.html#ecwid:category=2202364&mode=category&offset=0&sort=normal - unfortunately I can't process any orders at the moment due to having contrated viral pleurisy, but the bits are there if you want'em ;)

I like the desk and bookshelves. I ended up just making my own office equipment, but I'll have to keep you in mind for some future projects.

Thanks. It's turned out a bit rougher than I'd like, but I'll just pretend it fits with the motive - it's supposed to be an office in a rundown hotel... :)

These two items would work perfectly, but I'm in the states and they want 27,20€ on a 4,00€ purchase, so... no. Has anyone seen something similar to this via a US site?

Hi,

27.20 euros is for 0-1 kilo. If your package is 500g, it's the same price. If you want only these two cabinets, there is a solution for sending letter 9 euros with a tracking number but it should not exceed 250g.

I am the manager of the shop. Contact me if you want more information.
