I've just seen the new starter set, Open Fire! for Flames of War advertised in Wargames Illustrated. Seems like an interesting set and I like the new plastic infantry, but using a scantily-clad model as part of the advertisement seems a little tacky to me.
-
Tacky? Seriously???
-
Post modern irony, surely?

Call it what you like lads, but using something that conformed so badly to the popular stereotype of wargamers, that we're all fat balding men lusting over beautiful women we can't have struck me as tacky especially as it detracts from the beauty of the set itself.

No. I love the whole fact that they don't believe enough in their product, the presentation and their target audience.
I'd like to call it embarrising.

For once I would like to see that ad... ::)
-
Scantily clad females got my interest, the rest is not so important. Yeah I am an elderly, overweight wargamer. Not bald though, got to work on that part I assume.
-
Scantily clad females or a crummy flames of warhammerepic40k game.....I know which I prefer
-
the advert must have been aimed at teenage lads to try and distract them from all the spiky bits from GW ;) also found it was a tad embarrasing..... unless of course scantily clad nubiles are now really getting into 15mm WW2 wargaming :D
Shame really as those new plastic miniatures look superb and hope they are brought out at a later date seperate from the boxed set
-
Did the ad mention the price of the set? I haven't seen it anywhere so far... :?
-
Haha yeah I saw that add and thought it a bit of a new low. Women and wargaming are separate hobbies. ;)

The set will be £50
