I do remember seeing in a museum somewhere a print of an Indian painting showing some nobles and I'm sure one of them had lacquered red armour ???

The only thing I might suggest for the next batch is to paint in some subtle patterns in the "silk" jackets and trousers in a slightly different shade of colour. For example, dots or small diamonds or rings.

Just small designs of dots here and there in a lighter shade of the base colour might do the trick.
