When the 1600th (+/-) miniatures are finally out I would be seriously tempted if there were rules where the base units representing "Large Battle" games probably should be at least regiments, if not Brigades or Divisions.
Other than Volley and Bayonet * (tried those, not interested,) what rules might I be exploring for games where Battalions are too small a granularity for the playing?
Gracias,
Glenn
* One off my heretical practices is to have sold off TS&TF (twice - revision 1 and 20th anniversary versions,) and V&B because I find them both incredibly lacking. TS&TF breaks down unacceptably with the melee mechanics (Elegant > Complex > Complicated) where the melee resolution mechanics are simply unnecessarily drawn out and repetitive. I found V&B to be too bland and seemed to be one size fits all process wise - SYW should not have the same flavor/feel in play as the Napoleonic period as ACW as the MAW, etc..

Steve of Steve's Painting Shed has a set of rules up for free here. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4kKWb8FBmR-Y2VkODFlNjItMjAzYi00NDhkLTgwZmYtNWExNGYzNTRiYzIz/edit?pli=1&hl=en (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4kKWb8FBmR-Y2VkODFlNjItMjAzYi00NDhkLTgwZmYtNWExNGYzNTRiYzIz/edit?pli=1&hl=en) They are nominally for 6mm figures, but they look like they might do what you want. You can look at some replays on his blog here: http://paintingshed.blogspot.com/
I haven't tried them myself, but I've read through them a time or two.

Marechal de Brigade from Baccus have a brigade as the base unit.
1/600 figs should work very well
