I'm not a very prolific painter and..well...I'm hoping this project will actually get finished.
This is the start anyway..
One banshee and two wandering spirits. I'm in the process of making their grave markers.
And it's all Masons fault.
-
Those look great! Prolific or not, you got these right!
-
I like them as well. Bases are also good :)
-
They look great, mate!
Very ethereal.
:-*
Reminnd me not to borrow any of your books, though..... ::)
And it's all Masons fault.
Yeah, yeah.
That one has well and truly been heard before.
;)
-
Cheers Superflytnt, Cherno and Mason.
I want to add a bit of that clump flower/ foliage that ive seen people using to the bases yet but it's nice to have them playable.
I have a fig for a mojo on order too. Still looking for a suitable poltergeist mini tho.
I've sent the cultists off to be painted for me so now it's on to the undead section of the lurkers.......ZOMBIES!!!!! I might be a while.
Nowt wrong with those books Mason. I quite enjoyed the Harry Turtledove alternate history ww2 series. The other spines include two forgettable 1950 sf books, Ursula La Guin, an unread book called African Genisis ( from when I used to be Indiana Jones) and a recently purchased Lovecraft compilation ( which I started reading on a night shift and scared myself witless with!!)

I wasnt commenting on the books, just the fact that they might be haunted!
Must be the Lovecract compilation..... ::)
-
Perhaps they are :o
Fortunately there is a hard as nails priest on the shelf too. He should keep them in check.
At least he will when I've finish painting him.
-
Very cool!
-
They look great mate, very chilling looking.
The lack of colour works really well on these miniatures.
Great stuff!
-
Nice looking minis and paint jobs!
Who is the manufacturer?
-
Cheers Styx and aggro84. They are two reaper ghosts and a GW banshee.
I was going to use the banshee as a figure head on a ship for my dwarf pirates ( and call it "the banshee") untill I had a change of mind wanted to call their ship " the naughty lass".
The dwarfs had to retire as a warband last week.. Sad days.
But it meant there was nothing stopping me from using the mini. I'm rather taken with the idea of ghosts as lurkers for SA, can't wait for my mojo to arrive.
Hello Lockswin!! How's stuff? You going to SELWG this Sunday?
They actually have a blue tinge to them IRL but are a bit washed out in the pic ( I also think they actually look a bit better in the pic than they really are. :D. Result!!) I'm looking forward to bringing my own lurkers to the table. I'll spank those Irish boys!!.... Or give them something to laugh about.
-
These look solid and I like their muted tones... they remind me of black and white ghosts that show up in pictorial "evidence" that ghosts exist.
-
Cheers Styx and aggro84. They are two reaper ghosts and a GW banshee.
Thanks for the fig ID.
I like the ship name "the naughty lass" better than "the banshee" too. :D
-
I like the color scheme you have chosen. Muted grey instead of bright greens or blue. Gives them more sinister look. very nice :)
-
Many thanks Yetis Yell and Relic.
I'm getting the prep work done on the undead and basing them. Hopefully they'll all be done by this time next week.
-

+1, I like muted colors as well , especially for bad guys ;)
-
Thanks Cherno.
And to mods for correcting my post blunder.
So here's my Mojo, painted yesterday. It's one of the Hasslefree children, retro pjs and suspiciously familiar looking doll. Painted to match the other ghosts and posed to look like she's floating forward.
Mojo

I still need a poltergeist. Anyone got any suggestions. I'd settle for a mini in a straight jacket.
-
Very nicely done, Sir!
I like her.
A lot!
:-*
This muted pallete of yours is certainly working.
-
Very nice! I want to get that figure, just need to figure out what to use her for.
-
Many thanks Mason and Styx.
Do you really need an excuse Styx ;) haha!
They have some others that could be used. I also like the Alice mini.
Since I had an order in I decided to get some others ( not the kids tho) I'm hoping to use Madge at some point. Lovely sculpt.
-
Many thanks Mason and Styx.

It helps curb my spending...the wife likes it. lol
-
Creepy! I like her! :D
-
VERY NICELY DONE! The Little Ghostly Gal is a cool-if-somewhat-creepy mini & your brushwork brings out all the Girl's attributes.
-
Many thanks aggro and Deafnala.
My conglomerate is up next, half done all ready, sadly working night shifts and having kids means there's not much time to paint. Well there is time, it just has to come out of my allotted 4.5 hrs sleep allowance :'( lol
I used to try and do three or four minis at once and never got anything finished. I'm finding that concentrating on one at a time really helps move things along for me.
That and Strange Aeons being an awesome system.
-
I got some acrylic rods off of Ebay some time back, really quite cheap, and I've been using them to base fliers and ghosties. Might not be a bad idea if you want to retain the "boogedyboogedy" effect of a flying ghost.
Love the painting and drybrushing. Great look on that model, and I especially love the fact she's floating forwards in midair. Very, very spooky. Excellent work!
-
She looks well good mate, can see her floating towards some hapless prey and then erupting into something alot more demonic. Like in Ghostbusters with the ghostly librarian..... :o
-
Good idea superflynt. Not sure it would work on her tho.... She's sooooo tiny! I had to use my pinning wire on her instead of the thicker brass rod I used on the banshee.
Cheers Lockswin. I'd love to get a slimer mini in28mm!! Does anyone make one?
-
I think you could make a slimer pretty easily out of Sculpey or Green Stuff...use some Silastic to make a mold and then cast some in Smooth-Cast 300?
As for the rods, check this out, brother:
1/8" rod, $0.12/foot, 6 feet minimum.
http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=24128&catid=440
Dremel down the end to a cone/point with a small sanding burr, drill out that point, insert wire/pin and then drill mating hole on the booty of the model. Done deal.
-
Finished this one this morning, I'm not completely happy with it but at least it's done :)
It's a nice gruesome mini tho. Fits quite nicely with the Conglomerate profile.
-
:o
Great choice of mini and great finish on it/them.
Lovely job, mate!
:-*
A bit of a production line going on here.
You are certainly getting into this, arent you?
;)
-
Cheers for the advice superflynt, perhaps when my painting gets better and the mini warrents a bit more love. Im fairly happy with her at the moment tho.
Mojo looks like a fun lurker to play too!
I just saw your doomsday device thread. I think I might have a go at knocking up my own one, something that fits in with my cultists... perhaps a scrumpy bomb. >:D
Many thanks Mason.
Getting into it?! Im taking my cult membership seriously sir!
Still... 4 to your 100+... I've a long way to go yet. I managed to get 4 rude zombies basecoated this morning before I had to sleep. Once they are done its the scrawney one ( and my grave markers)
-
You should be pleased, bro...she looks brilliant irrespective of seeing the little wire. The painting is superb on both her and the new creature, I like them both quite well.
I only mention the acrylic rods because I've used them for so long. Until ten years ago, I was really more of a spaceships blowing stuff up in space doing spacey things kind of guy. So, instead of paying big bucks for bases, I bought cheap 1" rounds from craftparts.com (IIRC) and then used acryl rods. Mostly on ships like Silent Death and whatnot.
I found it works well for flying superheroes and, now, ghosties too. I have that same Cthulhu doll girl too, and you've inspired me, so I'm TOTALLY stealing your idea.
-
Steal away fella.
Some cars and vans I've picked up for SA gaming recently. Awaiting a weathering tutorial from Mason (hint hint).
-
You've got some unique trucks there. I really like the mail truck. That would make a great threshold vehicle.
-
Cheers. The mail truck was pointed out to me by a Mason and is earmarked for a future project. The coal and coke truck is my fave. I need ( want) some regular non commercial vehicles now tho. Got my eye on a few eBay things.
-
Some great finds there, mate!
:o
Bring one of them with you on Monday.
Best way to learn is to do!
;)
The Mail truck will be perfect, but the coal truck is my favourite.
Better warn you though, that black is the most difficult to weather.
You have been warned!
-
Will do fella.
I thought I might just paint the coal and coke stuff that's in the back.
Also....I just won a bus... Let's hope the scale is right.
-
Creature looks the nuts!
Brings a whole new meaning to "Group hug"!
Vehicles also look spiffing old chap. You"ll soon have a fleet to rival Masons!!
Looking forward to see the bus. A zombie version of "On The Buses" if you use it for evil purposes!!
:) :)
-
Haha! That is a good idea. I'm sure there are some suitable minis out there to use too. You may have started something fun there Lockswin.
On a side note I've finally picked up a mini for the poltergeist, so the spooky family is almost complete.
-
Ok there are some zombies.
To be fair, I am deeply unhappy with how I've done them. I've kind of just drawn a line under them and said enough is enough. Too dark, not undead enough. The static grass went wrong. I just didn't have the heart for them near the end. Dabbed red on the wounds and told them to shamble off.
Lovely minis tho.
-
They look good to me, mate.
Proper zombies!
:-*
They are going into my next order, they are a great bit of variety for my planned horde.
;D
-
Those nekkid Zombies don't look that bad to be honest...as far as I can see they have a nice dirt thing going on. Maybe if you use some Tamiya Clear Red on the blood, it'll give these Zeds a little bit extra and make them a bit more to your liking...the stuff really makes gore look great without much trouble, I love to use TCR but be sure not to go over the top.
-
To be fair, I am deeply unhappy with how I've done them. I've kind of just drawn a line under them and said enough is enough. Too dark, not undead enough.
Maybe a light drybrush of a green/flesh mix to give that decomposing rotten look?
-
Thanks necro. I'll pick up some tamia clear red and give it a go.
Cheers for the advice dadlamassu. I've got the Great Zedsbys too so I'll prob try that on them. These zeds tho.. Apart from fixing the static grass mush ( that you can't really see in the pic) and the gore.. I'm going to leave and concider them as a trial.
On the plus side that's 12 more points worth of lurkers in the bag :)
-
My poltergeist. Baring an ancient warrior this rounds off the ghost section of my lurkers.
Painted just like the others so nothing new really.
A noprize for anyone who spots the glaring mistake I made with this fella.
-
Great figure. I frequently obsess with the best possible model for this Lurker...this one is a good choice. As far as your 'mistake'...I'm guessing that it is the square base? All the others seem to have circle bases...
-
Thanks Uncle Mike. Yea you spotted it. Not sure how that happened, a momentary lapse of attention lol. I'm not too fussed, he's quite top heavy so I think it might help a little. I'm thinking of having some floating crates/ debris on the base too.. not sure if that would overcrowd it tho. I'll post your noprize in the morning.
8) Cultist no 51 out 8)
-
Here's my scrawny one. I haven't flocked the base yet as I think my PVA is a bit old and might be responsible for the flocky mush on the zombies. I also intend to paint the villages name on the sign.
I tried something different with this mini as its soooo cool. I'm fairly pleased with him.
-

8) 8) 8)
It certainly is!
Great finish, mate.
:-*
Scrawny One, eh?
Love the idea.
Consider it snaffled!
:D
-
Oh man, that is so damned cool looking. Great model.
-
Cheers superflynt. Of the 9 lurkers I've done now 5 are naked! :o this guys creepy tho. I considered giving him human flesh tone but I seem to have a mental block on that at the moment so I thought I'd Try a bit of wet blending...or whatever it's called.
Mason fella. You can't snaff an idea that was yours to begin with! lol
Sorry for stealing your mini.
Actually after you pointed it out I got two for myself I liked it so much. Not sure what to do with the other yet.
-
Mason fella. You can't snaff an idea that was yours to begin with! lol
Sorry for stealing your mini.
Ah, I meant the idea of using it as a Scrawny One.
It is perfect for that use, so that is what I am stealing!
:D
I will paint it differently, though, so not stealing everything..... ::)
-
Love your scrawny one fig and the paint is awesome. Really disturbing and otherworldly.
-
Cool! I love that figure and you painted him up nice! :-*
-
Thanks Yetis and aggro :D
...it still felt a little weird highlighting his testicles :-X
-
I love the colours used on the model, and the great way you spiced up the base. :) Good stuff!
-
...it still felt a little weird highlighting his testicles :-X
:o
Well, that is something that I certainly was not expecting to read today!
lol
-
Yes well.... cough.... It's not something I have a lot of experience with. lol
Time to get some minis that actually have some clothes.
Cheers Roon. Just a bit of balsa and a pin. I'm quite pleased with it. Writing my cursed villages name might be a bit tricky tho. Not sure how I'm going to go about that.
-
HA! With all of the striations on his body (or folds or whatever) I didn't even notice that his wee business was saggin! LMAO
Yeah, painting someone's frank n' beans had to be a little unnerving. Especially in that red tone!
-
I haven't checked your thread in a while and I've obviously been missing out on some really cool stuff here!
-
Nice work!
-
Thanks obsidian and styx.
Now I'm going to be a bit naughty and post some pics of things that aren't quite finished.
My excuse is that I'm a bit under the weather so have slowed down.. I also need to get some TCR and new PVA still.
Anyway, here are three fairly standard grave markers, in need of some static grass.
And three summoning point thingies for my scrawny one, also in need of a bit of static grass.
Not special, but I'm pleased with them anyway :D
-
And just to show I've not been totally idle.
The start of a 15point Lurker team consisting of a cult leader with a meat cleaver, a degenerate with a meat cleaver and...
...awaiting their arrival in the post two pigs from the LAM range which will be used as proxies for giant vermin.
I think this will leave me 2points for upgrades or something else.
Here are Tubs and Edward Tattsyrup who run the local butchers. Where all their meat is "sourced locally".
I rather like these minis.
-
Wow! Fat scary cannibals. Creepy. :-*
-
Hehe. They need a good bit of gore on them, wasn't sure how to paint the pigs head or arm yet either.
I know the cult leader/ butcher should really be called Hilary Briss but Tubs and Edward are my fave characters and go together.
I'm off sick from work so need to Make a resolve check to get out of bed and finish painting them.
-
Some lovely additions to your collection there, mate.
The grave markers and summoning points are certainly very nice and atmospheric, whilst the Butchers look great!
Nice paintwork to spruce them up.
:-*
Love the idea with the piggies, too!
Locally sourced meat.
The Organic movement obviously began in the 20's.
lol
-
Wow! Great stuff!
-
I really like those gravestones, and I ~really~ like those Elder Sign stones. But I ~~REALLY~~ like your ...robust... maniacs. Those look like Secret Weapons bases, no? Also, are those varnished with a polyurethane, like "dipped" figures, or is that just a wash. I really dig how the deep parts of the models are so dark and shadowy.
Well done, sir!
-
Thanks Mason, Styx and superflynt.
The bases are regular slotta bases with some cobblestone plastic card ( from hobby zone a UK store) stuck on and trimmed to shape ( its a bit of a pain because the cards quite thick. I've not tried dipping, but I use washes quite heavily after I've blocked out all the colours. I've just ordered some army painter quick shade washes as my devlan is now gone (all most). The reviews I've seen seem to say they match up fairly well. Infact the butcher had a devlan wash but there wasn't enough left so I used ogryn flesh wash on the fat b.... Err... On Tubbs (my brother dislikes the model so much he calls her by my ex wife's name and refuses to pick her up .. The naughty man) before I highlighted the skin.. That's the sheen on the base.
I'm gonna take another pic of her as you can't see the best bit of the sculpt.
-
(http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x24/davidoshea/fa19611d4a8404450839c37d961e0b62.jpg)
There's a chair stuck up her arse!! lol
I also wanted to add that these two models were kindly given to me by Mason. Thanks old chap.
-
You have done a great job on these, mate.
:-*
I know what these two looked like before your repaint, so I can say that.
They were pretty dire and basic, so well done.
Especially making a feature of the chair!
:o
I was expecting you to remove it, to be honest..... ::)
-
I've heard of blokes getting wood over "robust" women, but that's ridiculous.
-
Remove it!! How could I? It made me laugh so much.
I've actually seen a big lady with a commode suction stuck to her bum at work :-X so it didn't seem too unrealistic to me. lol
...I'm a nurse by the way... Not a complete pervert. ;D
-
(snapping gloves on)
"Oh no, Guvnah, I'm a profeesional. I'm no pervert, I'm a nurse! Now either bend over or sod off!"
LMAO
-
Collection is coming on really well mate. Love the chair up the jacksie! (slang term for butt for those wondering what "jacksie" means)
Your like a machine, turning out great mini after great mini!!
Keep em coming!!
Looking forward to our next meet, maybe we can exact some revenge on those accursed maniacs together.!! :)
-
Haha cheers Lockswin. I'm having a bit of a skin mare with my threshold team tho. I'm quite keen to get them out of the way.. Do you have any tartan paint to spare?
For sure, we're overdue a we drink and a few games.
Next time he has a maniac in close combat I might be tempted to throw a stick of dynamight into the fray. Those pesky buggers
-
Deep in the heart of the English countryside lies the sleepy village of Oberon.
A typical rural English village where the children play in the fields, cricket is played on the village green and everyone knows each others names.
History has mostly forgotten this backwards village, no records are found of its existance prior to the civil war but in the County dark things are whispered at night about the people of Oberon. Tales of depravity and vice.
Be warned however... For these tales barely scratch the surface. The truth is more shocking, more bloody, more disgusting than can be imagined.
It permeates every aspect of village life from the landed gentry to the schools in which the children happily play.....
...... and it wears bells.
Beware. The cult of Morris approaches.
Many apologies for my lack of phototrickery savvy. One day I will learn. Pics of the cult to follow when the glue has dried.
-
Bring 'em on, all a'jinglin' and a'janglin'
;D
-
Mwa Ha Ha!!
"You should try everything in life except incest and Morris Dancing – incest because it is illegal and Morris Dancing because it should be.”
I'm not entirely sure who this quote is attributed to, there seems to be various claimants. I think the principle holds true whoever said it tho.
Now I'll admit now that I actually sent the boys off to be painted on commission. I paid for tabletop standard. The pick looked not to bad. When I got them however I had to do a bit of work on them, I re highlighted the black, highlighted the wood/straps/leather. Painted some bits that were missed. Painted the bases (which I asked to be left undone).Redid a bottle to a more traditional color scheme. Reprinted the hair on one of them and highlighted the sachets and flowers. I'm also considering adding two highlights to the flesh. I've spent about three hours on them now. Not including drying time, and am quite pleased.
The cult leader is almost done and I have a suicide bomber on the go too.
I'll get the pics up before I go to work tonight.
-
The armed cultists.

And the gentleman with clubs.

Hey nonny nonny indeed!
I really like the way they painted the green waistcoats.
Sorry theres no close ups. I'll try for a few tomorrow.
-
What I can make out looks great, smokezombie...
:-*
.....but close ups would be appreciated.
;)
-
A little bit closer.

-
They have come out really well
you thieving git!, mate!
I am impressed!
:-*
-
Lol. Cheers Mason. They look quite good as a mob and I'm glad I spent some time on them after they came back.
I'm also glad I sent them off initially as ive never been good at finishing things before Strange Aeons and I think 11 fellas in the same costume might have broken my enthusiasm.
Just doing the finishing touches on the cult leader now. He is the local gentry. Baron Sam Hardy ( it's a stretch but I couldn't help it) A nice reaper mini that I think fits in thematically.
I'm looking forward to bringing them round for a game. Perhaps they will have a bit more luck than M.O.S.S
I bought some of those army painter heather flowers last night to spruce up the bases and I thought I might get some different colour flowers to put on the base as well . Should I go for red... Because it sits opposite green on the colour wheel and might make a nice contrast. Or Purple to contrast the yellow detail? Or plump for a bit more yellow to bring out the yellow detail a bit more? Any thoughts?
-
Just as I suspected; the Hibernians are actually Evil Cultists...the rumors of sleeping all Winter must be true.
Now that I've gotten that out of my system, the Lads in Green painted up TERRIFIC...fine brushwork & basing (I'd go with the red flowers). Of course, the Accordion is a dead give away to their vile natures & evil intents.
-
I think the red would make a nice contrast too.
Whichever that you choose will add a nice touch to some of your other bases as well, and it helps group them together well.
One of the packs that I have, I think it s one of the blossom packs, has two colours on the same pack with a mixture of the two on some tufts.
;)
-
I think you may have eaten one of your mushrooms by accident Deaf Nala old chap.. lol
Cheers for the comments and advice you guys. Red it is.
Any chance of a link to the product please Mason. I'm working a night shift tonight again and they are always a good excuse to spend ghost money on the Internet.
-

This is where I get my tufts from:
http://mutineer-miniatures.org.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=24_64
Have a wander around, there are plenty to choose from.
Dont complain later if you end up spending a fortune, though!
;)
-
Cheers for the link fella.
So here are part of the butchers family. You've already met Tubbs and Edward. Here are their... Er... Siblings....
A pair of rather anatomically correct pigs. Not sure what their names are yet.
And there I was painting naked male zombies thinking that was traumatic. Imagine my horror at having to paint a pigs balls :-X
(http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x24/davidoshea/ccd9b96a1cffb1139b37840a3d8e7353.jpg)
I bought a couple of minis to use as the business end of the butcher shop.. If they scale right they might relegate a fella I'd been painting up as Hillary Briss the butcher... We shall see.
-
Very nicely done, sir!
:-*
Only problem is that now I fancy a bacon sarnie...
-
The new Pigs on the (butcher's) block look TERRIFIC...I'm sure the Boar is grateful for your attention to detail. Both Piggies have delightful expressions. VERY WELL DONE!
-
This thread has devolved into madness and should be locked! I love it!!! :-* Especially that Butcher!!! :-*
-
Thanks guys. I feel the pigs testicles came out rather well :o
Tho the whole thing made me look sideways at the sausages on my plate at dinner time.
Please don't lock my thread Unkle Mike... I'm too young to die be locked.
Besides there are a few more gribblies in the que on my shelf waiting to be finished and posted.
I've so much more to give lol
-
Great updates Smokezombie! :-*
-
Wow! Great work, the pigs are giving me the urge for some fried pig nuts!
-
Thanks aggro and Styx.
The pig nuts are all yours Styx. I've had two more than I can handle recently. lol
-
The leader of the Cult of Morris.
Barron Sam Hardy. Practitioner of the dark arts...and able to cut a tight jig when the need arises.
With his faithful followers.

He certainly looks a suave chap.
I wouldn't trust him!
Great paintjob, mate, he certainly fits in with his following.
Nice work!
:-*
-
Nice work!
-
Looking good Smokezombie!
I love Morris dancers. :-*
-
Thanks for all the nice and encouraging comments chaps. This forum is a very welcoming place and the friendly support both online and on the gaming table has given me a lot of ( renewed) enthusiasm for the hobby.
Your right not to trust him Mason. He has plans to encroach on the turf of The Purple Headed Worm. I fear this will only lead to violence.
By the way fella can you send me a link to that merry zombie you mentioned last week please. I completely forgot where it was from.
-
The Morris Cult turned out TERRIFIC! The Cult's Head Honcho is suitably sinister...could be the Voodoo Doll (Beanie Baby from Hell!) or his proximity to the Accordion Player. All VERY WELL DONE!
-
I feel the pigs testicles came out rather well
Wow...only in a Strange Aeons conversation would I ever (or should that be never?) expect to see something like this.
Great work all round.
-
Thanks Deaf. I think he's a nice mini. Quite a simple sculpt with no fancy bits. The waistcoat ties him in nicely tho I feel. He's the sort of man that likes evil mushrooms. :D
Lol. Cheers obsidian. Since being inducted into Strange Aeons I have had to paint three pairs of trsticles. Which brings me to a lifetime total of.... Three pairs.
As you say... Only in strange aeons.
Without sounding like a bigger pervert than I already am. I'm actually looking for some naked dansing wicker man type lady's. Amy one got any ideas?

Alright, SZ, I have to know:
The black outlines on the leader's vest, how the hell did you get them so pronounced? Hand drawn, inked, washed, or something like Magic Dip or Quickshade Dark Tone?
-
Hey superflytnt.
The Barons vest was just a goblin green base coat. Devlan mud equivilant wash than repainted with the green leaving space around the buttons ( painting dots of green on the buttons) and seams/joins. I didn't bother with a my further highlights as it sort of matched the other fellas and I didn't want him to look too different.
I bought a new brush a few weeks ago and it still has its point so that probably helped. lol
-
Shit fire, mate. I can never get my hand-mixed washes to stay where I want them like that. WELL DONE!
-
Cheers fella.
So here's some terrain that I made before I got into Strange Aeons that I hope to use for some Aeons jungle adventure some day soon. I've been thinking about it recently as there are some pieces that need finishing....and because the talk had turned to trees and standing stones on your thread necro.
One of my brothers threshold team is in the middle and the board they are on is slightly smaller than an Aeons board should be. 22" by 35" to be precise...so only just.
I've posted these a while ago on another forum. But felt like sharing with you LAFers
-
Looks great. Grab some dino models and you're set for a Black Dossier from the second book.
-
Thanks obsidian. That was what I was thinking :D tho I should finish my other pieces and make a couple of non natural pieces.
And then win five games in a row :?
-
Those jungles pieces are the nuts, mate!
:-*
You have shown me pictures before, but this one is certainly better.
Great setting for a game.
And then win five games in a row :?
lol lol lol
(Sorry, mate. Couldn't resist..... ::))0
-
Sadly it's true Mason. I'd settle for willing one...in a row. lol
I have some other pieces that my brother made for the jungle stuff, a ziggurat and some other pieces but I thought I should just post the things made bt my own fair hands.
These are the pieces I need to finish, I have some undergrowth stuff I want to fill up the bases with so it will be difficult/impassable terrain.
I've been eyeing up the copplestone cave men for a while or some of the tribes they make... Perhaps after christmas.
-
VERY NICE jungle pieces! I did some Lustrian terrain for an erstwhile friend/patron, SO I have a soft spot for jungle terrain.
If you can't drag the crew off to distant locales, may be you could place them in a Botanical Garden that for reasons unknown has been abandoned for long years...put in creepy B movie theme music here. You could even introduce a sinister Grounds Keeper with a strange Eastern European accent.
-
Now that is a rather good idea Deaf. Rather good indeed ( strokes chin in an evil genius manner). 8)
-
The terrain looks great! I am looking forward to seeing it used in some bat reps! :-*
-
Don't you play around with my feelings, now...we all love a good ziggurat. Brother or no, I'd love to see it. I'm using all of these wee bits of knowledge (read: white hot jealousy) to figure out what I want to build for my SA and other game sets.
The wife will probably leave me for filling up our downstairs living room with scenery, but that's the price I pay...
-
Thanks aggro. Deafs idea is a good one, I'm going to try and work on some things that will turn it into a botanical garden type board more fitting for SA...tho I should really get my village going first. Hopefully a battle rep sometime over christmas.
Sorry to tease superflytnt. I'll post his pieces up tomorrow after work. Terrain making is quite a satisfying thing. I'd love to have room for a permanent table in my place ( or even space to store more terrain)
Just because it was a bargin. I have to mention in this thread too that I got 100 of those palm trees for £7.99 on eBay. The rocky bits were made with spare bits of pink foam I nabbed of my dad. Including the plastic card for the bases and paint I spent probably less than £15 on making all the jungle pieces above. More money for minis :D
-
Ok superflytnt as promised here's the ziggurat and some pillars that my brother made ( both by chopping up some packing polystyrene/sand and glue) with a member of his threshold team that I forced him to paint)
-
You see this cheeky bastard putting up pics of things he didn't even make????
:P
Looks great, love the texture. I sure wish I knew a place to get EPS foam for free. I may have to dumpster dive at an electronics store....
-
Haha! It's outrageous isn't it. lol he's a good lad my brother. I'm trying to slowly bring him round to SA. He's not a gamer or a hobby fella as such, tho he enjoys a game of Mordheim ( only if it's a 4 player game tho). I think he'll love SA once he plays a game. I just need to find the hook for him 8)
-
Ok. I've not been idle recently. Just been secretly working on some stuff whitch I'll show soon.
In the meanwhile here is something that's almost done (sorry)
Hillary Briss, with his family. Selling speciality meat to the whole of the village of Oberon. He also sits on the parish counsel and is a rather good wicket keeper.
-
He also has a rather large right hand. No doubt this helps greatly in his cricketing.
The gun in his left hand kindly donated by Mason. Cheers fella.
He's only waiting for a highlight on the metal and the base.
-
Nice brushwork!
-
LOOKIN' GOOD! I love the color choices & your brushwork is TERRIFIC. GREAT WORK!
-
Sod off with that!!! You keep showing us up! :-*
Spectacular paintwork. Let me ask you this, sahib...do you use a fine brush with a darker brown color to get into spots like the fold of the arms (indentations) and put those lines in there, are you using a wash, or what?
My models always lack that "oomph" because I tend to use a wash and then highlighting rather than the look that you have going on there. Just f-ing incredible.
-
Great stuff, mate.
Top result!
Top paintwork and the base is superb.
:-*
I have that fella to use in Apocalypse. I was going to use him as a shopkeeper, but I think I will have to consider some different weapons now.
Look forward to killing seeing him later.
:D
-
Cheers fellas.
He was good fun to paint actually. Not a lot of detail but plenty of character. My first pulp mini :D
My painting is quite basic Superflytnt. I block out all the main colours, then wash with devlan mud equivalent everywhere. The flesh gets two highlights and the rest gets repainted in the base colour everywhere but in the folds. I use a no 3 brush ( with a good tip) for most things and a 0 ( with an even better tip) when I am trying to be more precise. I feel like I've a long way to go but at the moment I'm just glad that I'm enjoying painting.
Just played 4 games of SA tonight, all as lurkers....and lost all four lol it was great fun..
Here's a little pic of the third game?.
The Cult of Morris jingling away towards their death at the hands of MOOSE
(http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x24/davidoshea/85b0922289831858f0fd1f42de5ce288.jpg)
And yes...Mason did kill Hillary...twice. >:(
-
Nice setup!
Did you make those terrain bits yourself?
I see that Mason used Guiness to hone his adventurous edge... :D
-
Cheers Tas

He did. The rotter. And drank two cans and a pint at the same time too!!
That must be how he thumped me three games in a row. lol
On a serious note I think his character has a "special" relationship with his tommygun. I don't know how else to explain how he rolled so many 6's to hit. :o
I bought the ruined church bits and the other ruins with steps on eBay. The bit with steps was originally sandy coloured, I painted it to match my other pieces a few days ago..after realising they also sold it in grey :( I just need to add some foliage to it now.
-
My son has the same affinity for rolling 6s- maddening isn't it!!!

I'll have to have a look for them then - thanks!
-
Great fun, mate, actually playing the 'good guys' for once.
Hilary was indeed twatted twice, but the git deserved it for taking out a poor little policeman who was only doing his job...
As for comments about my luck with the Tommy Gun, your Morris Gits must have a VERY special relationship with the local stonework, judging by the amount of cover saves that stopped those Thompson hits doing any damage...
Anyway, enough of that. It was a good evening had by all, and smokezombie may well have found another convert for the Cult...his brother.
-
Great report and HB looks cool!
-
Cheers Styx.
I forgot to mention that the first two games were played against my new lurker group.
After DeafNala infected my brain with thoughts of a botanical garden I made a few purchases with the idea of using plants as the lurkers ( mostly). Here's where I'm at so far.
So these front guys are the stinger plants, used as cultists with Bowie knives
(http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x24/davidoshea/d1131baff6f207453f29e4d6d23ba847.jpg)
And the guys in front this time are used as the shooters with .22s (or all with db shotguns as Mason kindly suggested in his second game)
And here they are with some big guys..I plan for them to be maniacs tho I used one as a cult leader too ( while the real leaders are being painted). Clearly they all need some base loveing.
Hope you like. They were fun to paint.
Ooh.. I have a shambler a Golding a cult leader, two lieutenants and a formless thing on the conveyer belt to match this lurker group... Happy days.
-
Great stuff, mate.
(Not that I was saying that when they were trying to kill my chaps!)
A great idea for a Lurker group, well rendered.
:-*
The Creations of the Mad Professor Titchy-Marsh are very well done.
8)
-
I see Mason has been planting the seed of evil and the vines of creativity abounds!
-
I had to laugh at the title, SZ. "Botanical Madness"...sounds like a 50's anti drug film! Or, perhaps, a plot point regarding Lurker Cultists?
-
The cult leader..
.." he's not your average fu#%ing horticulturalist". 8)
-
I knew for certain from my first contact with Brussels Sprouts the vegetables were EVIL MANIFESTATIONS from HELL!
These Various Vegan Nasties are WONDERFUL. They'd get on famously with my Mushrooms; AND have given me some ideas along those lines. Your brushwork, bases, & color choices are OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Cheers Deaf. I'm trying not to buy any more minis for SA ( as there is already a backlog) but getting some Hasslefree mushrooms is tempting...especially after looking at your shroom madness thread.
-
I'm with you SZ. I'm not buying anything but terrain until I've got ALL of my backlog painted, and until I get my Reaper Bones Kickstarter stuff. There's enough "ancient warriors", demons, and God only knows what in that big parcel to last me a long, long time.
-
I am with both of you:
No buying any more stuff until I have painted what I already have.
Unless I really like something, of course!
;D ;D ;D
-
I knew for certain from my first contact with Brussels Sprouts the vegetables were EVIL MANIFESTATIONS from HELL!
Don't be daft. Sprouts are the food of the gods!
-
Non-euclidean gods from beyond the boundaries of space and time, perhaps. >:D
-
Your all mad. The gods eat toasted cheese sandwiches.
Anyway, bact to work :D
Today I had a lot of fun painting this happy chap.
For some strange reason there is nudity in this one too.
Wolf bum!! :-X
(http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x24/davidoshea/d0841debb0bd5229bb95c08743c53893.jpg)
-
Very nice, mate.
I like him.
A lot!
:-*
I will be particularly nice to him and will, in no way, anger him and thus cause him to attack my Agents.
;) :D
To you, on the other hand, I will say this:
You are bloody bonkers!
Your all mad. The gods eat toasted cheese sandwiches....
....Wolf bum!! :-X
Proven!
:D
-
VERY COOL Wolf Guy...what a TERRIFICALLY expressive face he has! VERY WELL DONE!
-
Cheers Mason.
I think SA made me mad, must have taken one to many serious injurys.
It doesn't take much to make him angry, he bit me twice while I was washing the release agent off him, but I guess that's dogs for you.
It was my first outing with the flowers on the base, perhaps one of the clumps is too big but I quite like them.
Thanks DeafNala old bean, he's a cracking sculpt, up close he ooooozes character ( well..I think he does :D )
-
Yea, he is a great model and great paint job!
-
Many thanks Styx.
-
Nice work SZ,now let's see him in an game :D
-
Cheers Blackwolf. Not sure if he will see any action soon as I have a nice variety of lurkers waiting in the sidelines for a chomp at the bit, but I'm looking for an opportunity to win a game against the despicably evil Mason ;) so you never know.
Brian ( the werewolf) is my fave lurker mini currently tho.
-
