Well, the new QuickStart box has been decided upon. The backer decided to do an H.P. Lovecraft “space and time” box set that includes the following:
Yog-Sothoth (50 mm base)
Mi-go with lightning gun (40 mm base)
Mi-go with plasma ejector (40 mm base)
Shoggoth (40 mm base)
Keziah Mason with Brown Jenkin (40 mm base/possible extra 30 mm base for Brown)
below is a picture of the concept art for the Mi-go.

Due to a change of topic this thread has been split. Here's the former one (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=46674.0).

Hmmm... Tempting... ;D

No it's MI GO! Not yours lol

Does the associated game have MI-GO-U-GO mechanic?
Anyway. Nice concepts. Will have to see about the minis obviously but am interested.

Reported for horrible pun.

Incidentally, isn't Keziah Mason in the wrong company? o_o

Heres the heads up on what we are offering now.

If you have already pledged, then your pledge will automatically be upgraded.
The Greek box set will be getting the five original models plus the special edition kickstarter cyclops with alternate weapons.
The Norse box set will be getting a second frost giant (the Frost giant is being sculpted with two different weapons you can choose from.)
The Celtic box set will get a second Fomori Warrior added to it.
The H.P. Lovecraft box set will receive a third Mi-go in the box set.
This is a great deal, we are not throwing in an extra 28 mm model, we are throwing in an extra model that is over 40 mm tall! So if you haven't pledged yet, stop on by and see were offering!

Wonderful!!! Love those Mi-Go!!! :-*
-
Love the migo EXCEPT for the bog standard 'dragon-tyranid-demon' spiney wings. Seriously, I would have hoped for something different there.
-
Mi-Go are indeed insectoid.... Without giving them Tinkerbell-like dragonfly wings, the designers should have produced something more likely than bat (vertebrate with endoskeleton) wings on an insectoid (with exoskeleton) body.
-
I think peoples memories are faltering here -
The "Mi-go" are large, pinkish, fungoid, crustacean-like entities - not insectoid, crustacean-like.
According to two reports in the original short story, their bodies consist of a "form of matter" that does not occur naturally on Earth - which means they don't show up on normal film.
They possess a pair of membranous Bat-like wings (note, NOT insect like) which are used to fly through the "aether" of outer space. The wings do not function well in Earths atmosphere/gravity.
Several other races in Lovecraft's Mythos also have wings like these - the Bat like wing thing is a common thread.
The only thing I can see a little "wrong" with the sculpts is the size, they look kinda big.
-
I just hope the whole project goes the distance so we get more.
-
Well said Vanhelsing,
I was about to post the same comment.
I think the mi-go look mighty fine and have ready backed this
Project.
Surely those of you who don't like them, don't have to
Back the project?
Regards
Jim

Well, I hope I can still express my opinion, even if I don't plan to throw my money at them? The wings look simply boring to me. We've seen those wings or their likeness on so many things already... I actually am less bothered what the source texts say they should look like, insectoid, crustacean, whatever. That's all, and as I said, I do like the rest of the mini.
-
The "bat wing" paradigm pretty much became popular BECAUSE of Lovecrafts wonderful creations LoL!

Look forward to seeing them painted!

Any infor on size of Mason and Brown J?

Which is probably why they are sculpted ragged on this one lol
I'd have to check what is really said of the Mi-Go from the source but can't be bothered ATM. The size does seem to be overt since they should be roughly human-sized IIRC.
-
Roughly Man-Sized, when covered in Robes they pass for Human (at a distance) in the Whisperers in the Darkness.
Plus, at the end of the story we are (kinda) led to believe its not actually Akeley that Wilmarth is talking to, but rather a Mi-go disguised as Akeley. So they can't be that big at all.
-
Well, as I recall it's not entirely clear in the original story what Wilmarth actually talked to, only that it wore the face and hands of Akeley. Can't recall the exact details of what HPL actually said about the few specimen described in the tale and didn't remember to check last night either.
Presumably the Mi-go from the CCG line could be more @ Pagan Publishing, where the "warrior caste" could be physically larger and the fungi from Yuggoth were generally more into geneering and phenotyping themselves.
