Hi folks. Just thought I would start a thread of my Fantasy figures since I started one for Superheroes and will soon for SciFi.
There will likely be no theme from one model to the next here. Just whatever takes my interest. :)
First up, my conversion of the Reaper Bones Minotaur:
I posted him in the Latest Conversion thread in the Workbench section, but I made some changes to him and he fits here too, so here he is again.
Original Bones figure here (http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Bones/latest/77013).
Still a little to do on his weapon, and I am thinking of adding a cloth to his shield.
Next up is the WHFB Ogre conversion that I am working on:
Intended as an homage to Hrothyogg, the Ogre Captain (http://www.solegends.com/citcat89suml/c89suml-074601-1-01.htm). There have been a few people posting painting threads with this guy and I got a bit nostalgic. Since I no longer have mine, I thought I would convert him and update him a little more inline with the current Ogre style. And hopefully have him be recognizably based on the old Jes Goodwin Ogre from 1989.
Lastly for now, a character that I intend to use in an A Song of Ice and Fire version of Mordheim:
One of the Kingdom of Avalon starter set figures from Alchemy. I intend to use him as the leader of a band serving Ser Gregor Clegane. I am converting his weapon to be a large mace, but other than that I intend to use him untouched.
Still very early WIP. Basically the Yellow is the only thing that isn't just basecoat right now.
I appreciate any and all comments, questions and criticism.
Thank you all for looking.

Looking very interesting so far. I'll be following this thread.

I love watch conversions develop; taking an existing mini & making it uniquely your own is an art form in itself. I love what your doing with both pieces...the Minotaur's shield in particular. INSPIRING WORK!
-
I am generally compelled to follow anything ASoIaF on this forum so I will keeping up in earnest :)
-
Some great conversions going on here.
The Minotaur looks great , but the Ogre is extra special.
:-* :-* :-*
Good putty pushing going on here, I will be following with much interest.
:)

Doomhippie, DeafNala, Mason: Thanks gents! I will hopefully have some updates to the minotaur and the ogre this week.
Hupp n at em: I intend to fantasy the ASoIaF warbands up, so hopefully that won't put you off.
Update to the Clegane Man at Arms:
A bit shiny from the washes, but he is shaping up nicely. I think I am going to go for a studded club or cudgel as his weapon. Seems simpler, and still brutal. Fits what I think Clegane's men would go for.
Thanks again everyone for looking.

Fantasy up eh? I'm interested to see what you do, even if my own eventual ASoIaF project will be in the opposite direction ;)

Yeah, just had some ideas for increasing the fantasy elements a bit. The Mountain will be an Ogre, for example.
I look forward to seeing your project. I do enjoy seeing all the different interpretations people come up with.
Updates on Hrothyogg:

And with the sword in place:

I'm itching to get him finished and put some paint on him.
As always, comments and critique appreciated.
Thanks for looking.

Thanks!
You are thinking of Marvin the Martian from the Bugs Bunny cartoon. And yes, there is a definite resemblance. :D
Sorry for not replying sooner, I missed your reply.
It has been awhile, but I have a new update (and more Hobby ADD to display...)
I was not real excited to see the sculpts of the Mantic Werewolf from their Kickstarter. It was done well enough, but the posing put me off and some of the details were a bit wonky in my opinion.
So, I decided to see what I could do with the idea.
Here is about 5 hours work on the figure so far:

Pretty happy with the pose so far. I think it has the right kind of movement to it. Still lots to do: more smoothing of the anatomy, adding the head, adding fur, finishing off the hands and feet.
Would love to hear some thoughts on the progress so far.
Thanks everyone for looking.

Very interesting work there! Muscles are great, i'll follow for detailing and face+hands!

Fantastic anatomy/musculature on the werewolf, looks like you are using a muscle magazine as reference :o
All your conversions look great, can't wait to see them painted.

Cracking work!

Thank you! Face and hands are the most difficult parts, so it might be a little slow going.

Thanks! Muscle mags are definitely one of my references. I also have many hours of anatomy classes to fall back on.
Cracking work!
Thank you very much!
Thanks again everyone for dropping in a comment, I do appreciate it.

Really fun stuff. You might want to let the GS cure for half hour or so before doing the mail, you'll get less "spring back" that way but it'll still look ace painted up! Come over to Minisculpture forum for more general sculpting talk if you like. (Sorry for spamming, WK).

Thanks Andrew.
The chainmaille in GS is a bit of an exercise in frustration. Lol. I'll try your suggestion when I do more on the ogre.
I do have a thread started at the Minisculpture forum. I've just been neglecting updating it. :-[

Updates:
Minotaur:
I decided to go with the more hair advice that I got. Nice big mohawk! The three pony-tail-things will be braids when I am finished. I also smoothed out the transitions between his muscles a bit and added his tail back.
Werewolf:

Thanks everyone for looking.
