Title: Halo: Forward Unto Dawn series
Post by: MajorTalon on 28 October 2012, 01:20:30 AM
Not sure if this has been posted, but it could provide some great ideas for the modellers in this board.

Halo: Forward Unto Dawn, is an official Live-action webseries, which follows a group of Cadets as the world their Miliatry Academy is on, is assaulted by the forces of the Covenant.

New episodes for the webseries are added every Friday.

Been following it from the start and enjoy it. The latest one was good: Tether falling, ODST drops, Covenant showing up.

My all-time favorite web-movie so far has been Ghost Recon Alpha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-wAzlqzXH0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-wAzlqzXH0)

Been watching these with obvious interest. ltd ex Halo4 boxed set comes all episodes on a dvd. OBVIOUS PURCHASE POUR MOI!   :D  Will be rolling the cadet idea into my current Halo projects.

Next week is the final episode: the warthog chase.

I'm hugely impressed by the quality of these web-flicks. Full-length films can't be far off.

can someone explain the popularity of Halo to me? I had the first game on Xbox and PC, and have bought all of the others since for my son, but I have never seen the appeal in it regards the storyline, aesthetics of the aliens and so on, let alone the gameplay itself. The only thing I thought was good was the ability in Halo 3 to have split screen multiplay online so two people could play online on the same console. Even the so called map creator is incredibly limited (probably due to it being stuck on a console).  I just cannot fathom the whole 'Halo is awesome - what a storyline' thing. What am I missing?  ???

Great find on the web series.

can someone explain the popularity of Halo to me?

Eh, I believe that's a fools errand.  Think of it like modern art.  If you like it you like it.  If you don't like it, no amount of rapturous explanation from a New York Times art critic can ever adequately explain why you should.

You could present this question to almost anything you personally don't like I guess. I like the story and the aesthetic of the aliens myself, so I guess it's all down to personal tastes, and with Halo more people like it than not (seemingly).

fair points - I like the armour the chief wears, and some of the human vehicles are pretty good too. maybe it's more I just cannot stand using console controls that I've never got into it - most other games you can get on the PC - although Halo the original was a bit poor. Annoyingly this game started being talked about in about 96 as a Mac only game! - how things have changed :-(

As a reasonably big fan ;), for me it's the wider universe, the background, the attention to detail that brings this to life.

Simple premise, classic protagonists but huge amounts of depth for those that want to know a little more.

Appreciate the keyboard killer issue, i was a keyboarder but got sick of having to upgrade my pc every time a new game came out. I'm now its fair to say, a console monkey. :)

Grab halo legends on dvd, take a little peak into the back story, you'll enjoy it i promise you.

It is really well done! I get a kick out out of it because all the outside building shots were filmed at my Campus. Have a look at Simon Fraser University to see. Other films shot there included, the remake of the day the earth stood still, parts of the underworld movie series, and  bunch of the X-Files episodes.
