Hi Eric,
I've been watching and reading your blog with delight! It is a visual masterpiece and one that inspires me.
I just wanted to warn you against Totem poles in the FIW landscape, if that's what you had planned. Totem Poles are a feature of the tribes in the Pacific North West of the the US. If one were to find it's way into a FIW game, it would be akin to plopping an adobe Spanish tiled house down in your ECW game or a Mosque in your 100 Years War game table.

No worries. Totems are one of those very iconic images of native America, it's easy to confuse the various cultures if you're not from the area. I'm sure you'd speak up if I were to dress my South Essex Battalion in kilts. :)

Just having a South Essex Regiment at all will raise a few eyebrows :P

Eric why not use scalping poles instead of totem poles. Easy enough to scratch build with skewers and cocktail sticks
-
Yep...scalping poles would be a good addition. Here are my scratch-built ones:

and another look:

and speaking of skin stretcher, I wasn't nearly as pleased with these:

those skins look fine to me... although when would the fur be scraped off? before or after?
