Title: Early Imperial Romans for Impetus

I painted my Romans about 8-9 years ago and based them for DBA. When I started, last year,
playing Impetus with a friend I cut Plastic card sheets to the right size and used them as sabots
for my 12 DBA elements. When it turned out that we would stay with Impetus I decided not to
rebase the army but to turn the ad hoc sabots into something more than just a white underneath thing.
I had the Romans based on metal bases and so I made magnetic inlays.

We made a couple of more games and that helped a lot to motivate me to go on with the sabots.
Here you can see the progress.

until it was done

As I had some spare miniatures I made add ons for the Cavalry.

(FP) Legionarii

(S) Sagitarii

Then I did markers for disorderd Units

And some single based Miniatures as Opportunity Markers

Now I've painted two more Units, the first ones that are on regular Impetus bases.
(S) Sagitarii - the other half of the pack that I never had used.

(S) Funditores
(http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z34/zyphalion/EIR/EIRSFunditores.jpg)

The Funditores are the first non Foundry Minis in this army, they are from Warlord, which have some pretty nice Minis in their EIR Range. All decals are from LBM.

The next things to come are Markers to show which Commands have already spent their Initaive.

Thanks a lot for the kind words. When I did the Impetus upgrade I really fell in love with my romans again. Although they are one of my older works I really like their appearence and had a lot of fun painting all the new stuff.

Thank you, really appreciate your comments.

Usually I'm not a fan of regimental bases, just to keep up all options, because for me the visual appeal is very important. But I like the way the sabots turned out. Also I like that you can see the conversion from one game system to another, respectively that it is possible to use an Army for different purposes.

@MDM
the Romans love you too  :-* lol
"Oh look, Mad Doc is comming to play with us, yay!

Great idea with the sabots, and great idea converting to Impetus.......  ;) my favourite ancients rules by a long shot. I'm surprised actually just how good they do look. Nice one.

Thank you, yes, I was surprised too  :)
Another good thing about the Impetus base size is that I don't break off the shields anymore.  lol
